they have contributed so much to the world but is it 'good'? do they just take things and make them gayer? i mean before the yanks england basically ruled the world and we did some useful things, but were we just as bad then as the yanks are now?
i realise this is a terrible thread and i shouldn't have posted it, i don't know what came over me. i am still interested in people's opinions of america though.
i just want some honest opinions. from the heart kinda stuff.
i genuinely hate a lot of american culture, but sometimes i think about it and it makes sense that they are so fucked up. somehow that makes hating them seem futile. they are just fucked beyond belief but somehow don't care. i sort of admire that.

Bill Bryson is an American writer whose spent most of his life living over here, but in one of his books (I forget which) he relocated with his family back to the states and by his account thought the place was a joke and ended up moving to back to Yorkshire cause they couldn't stand it.
My opinion is the Yanks are a fucking joke that will fuck the world up or die trying. Leaving out the obvious conspiracies n'all.
not sure how to judge a nation which collectively agrees that baseball, basketball, ice hockey, and their own version of football are all better and more important than normal football.

i agree. i love watching this program and it's very entertaining (the food looks amazing too) but i can also see how wrong it is that they are cheering him as if he is some kind of national hero for stuffing his face with such an obscene amount of food

exactly. he should just be called a fat cunt and told to fuck off, not heralded as a saint because he has an over sized stomach. i just can't quite get my head round why the yanks think people like him should be praised.
