Tis fairly deep. I'm interested in what the threat is. Surely if it's a hijacked plane then shooting it down over the east end would cause a lot of death whether it reaches the olympic site or not. If they're fretting about the terrorists having missiles is the olympic site the best target. Personally if i was an anarchist and i had a heat seeker missile i'd be driving up and down the M25 near heathrow taking pot shots at jumbos.

yes it does. the amount of security that will be there will be immense. look at who we are protecting against, al qaeda. not known for targeting military targets are they?
I can see this being one of those threads where decent debate is stifled by repeated pronouncements by someone who believes that black people come from earth and white people come from mars and that is why there is war.
I think the gripe is having a military presence trawling around your premises for weeks on end. It would annoy me.

i'm not saying it wont be annoying for the people living there. i'm saying the annoyance is worth it if it means having good air defence at the olympics.
I don't see why there is any fuss about this at all. There is a massive chance that terrorists will target the olympics, the military must do all they can to prevent an attack, this towerblock is obviously the best location for them to take position so if this means a few residents are slightly put out for a few weeks then so be it!
