Films can get me, music less so.

Big bird at Jim Henson's funeral gets me but the performance is actually rubbish; it's the context that does it.

Sabres of Paradise - Smokebelch 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGQ3iZZXaJM and Simon n Garfunkel - Old Friends (Bookends) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul2hSba5pOs give me tingles but more cos they remind me of my best mate in the year he died.

Please stop talking about films/TV that makes you cry. Make another thread for that.

It's all about context, some tunes remind of you times in your life which are particularly poignant. So if a tune makes you cry, is it the memory associated, or the combination of melody/lyrics/instrumentation/arrangement?

I remember being in my car with my daughter about 10 years ago, she was 4 years old I think - it was her last visit to Walthamstow before I moved down to Hove to live nearer to her. She was born in Whipps Cross, not far away. The Corgis 'Need your Loving' came on the CD player and I just blubbed, without really knowing why at the time, although it was all about the situation, the tune just set me off, thinking back. Now when I hear that song again the same very vivid memory comes back.

'House if a feeling' - but you could argue that all music is.

From reading this, Domino and Rat have higher testosterone counts than anyone else.

I feel a shiver sometimes, yeah... And you can feel certain emotions etc but I can't relate to putting in my earphones and having a breakdown

Maybe I'm listening to the wrong stuff

There are different sorts of crying - ever been so happy that you shed a tear? Music has the power to do that.

Anyway, Jack Bauer cries sometimes so it must be OK. Having said that, he usually does it after he has to kill a friend/colleague so as to meet a terrorists demands, so that's probably not OK.

I would like to make it clear I don't sob and heave in distress, it's more like a warm welling of bittersweetness just between and behind my eyes. HTH

No actual tears, but this always gets me. Such an unbelievably powerfull anti-war statement.
How angry and upset he is at the pointless loss of life really comes across, and that solo!

i don't actually cry but a couple of tunes make me well up, i'm far too much of a man to let those tears roll down my chiselled cheeks though.

'danny boy' - my mate who got murdered was called danny and this played at his funeral.

'time to say goodbye' by andrea bocelli and sarah brightman - this is just a sad and beautiful song, has to be really fucking loud to work though.

Might do a crying mixtape instead of the Krust mix. I'll be sobbing down the mic between tunes.

Just after my semi-breakdown in a false shower unit in DFS last year, this came on while I was driving home. I had to pull into a lay-by and have an emotional prolapse through the face.

Nah, not at all. Bellends pretending it's unnatural for men to have emotions is far more pathetic.
