Compressers change the transients of things but it is volume sensitive.
Trasient designers (from my tiny understanding of production) will re shape the transients of a given sound constantly and the same regardless of the volume. So basically you don't have to mess around with fiding the right threshold etc.
At the moment i just use it to get kicks to smack hard.
Mr Cunt, I know that, but what differentiates Reasons built in compressor with attack/release and an SPL or Waves transient shaper? Apart from the homosexuality. But word, thanks Stimpy/Liquid Edge. I'll try out a 'transient' designer because that's the effect I'm going for.
A compressor and a transient shaper are two different things asfaik. Transient shaper works in a similar kind of way to simply fading out a sample I think. It can literally cut off audio. A compressor wont ever make the audio shorter like that would. (Unless I'm completely wrong)
I was doing a video on punchy drums last night with the transient shapers but the baby was poorly last night so had to scrap it. sorry guys. will get something rustled up over the next few days. However, i need to show you "Pipeline" in Studio one. Basically you insert ANY outboard gear as a plugin. So if you have nice outboard, you can use that as an insert or send as a plugin. Will do a video to show.
did i also mention auto delay compensation and phase alignment ?
Boh! oh, and also the ability to mix between wet n dry and enabled or bypass blap blap. need mwoar outboard nauw. Have been saving up for a mic. Getting a sherman now.

and also with a lot of other soundcards. But the sonicore doesn't allow you to add it directly into your DAW. It has to be linked within the mixing software for the sonic core.
What i'm describing is being able to use outboard entirely as an internal plugin directly into the DAW (not via the scope software that in turn feeds the I/O's in the DAW). Also, any MIDI outboard can also be controlled via macro so if you have a old lexicon knocking about, it'll work exactly like a "virtual plugin" when inserted on an instrument track or audio.
However, my mate hanz zimmer loves that sonic core stuff. For the money, i hope it bloody well does incorporate outboard. But agree, the sonicores matrix allows you to do something similar.
