Recommend Earphones

I know there's other threads, but none that have had any updates recently.

So i'm about to ditch my old sonyericsson walkman and use an ipod for the first time. I'm going to need to buy some earphones, and from all the other threads it seems the sennheiser cx300s are favourite. Just wondering if anyone's found any that top the cx300s in the same price range over the last couple of years?

I have cx 300's, they're alright. to be honest any good name brand (klipsch , sennheiser , sony ) over £20 you're gonna get a decent pair of earbuds.

I'm tempted to get some Sony's, purely because i've been using the standard Sony HPM-70 ones on the sony ericsson and I can't fault them. But they only work with sony ericsson phones.

For me, I always struggle to get ones that fit me comfortable, JVC ones that are available for a tenner in places like tesco are perfect for me so I stick with them.

I swear by these, been using them since 2004 and only had to get a replacement once when I broke the first pair.

Infact the most successful track i've ever made were solely made on these, mix-down and all. Not sure how but my tracks made on monitors have never come close since in terms of mix-down. Not saying these are a new magical mixing tool but obviously they do something right. Anyway I love them, just the right amount of bass, without compromised 'snare punch' zone. Too many in-ear headphones i've found smash loads of bass at you but everything above is tinny and shite sounding, like it's had a really strange filter applied. So yeah, thats what i use.

Kind of the case with cx300's I found, these were good : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Klipsch-IMAGE-S2-Image-Headphones/dp/B002FB7IX4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1327574286&sr=8-2

until I broke them. only downside is that the white things on the end can come off quite easily.

We're hardly at the stage where we're over-run with too many genuine threads on the main page are we?

Anyway the last post in an earphone related thread was 2 years ago now. I want to know if there might be something more favourable than the cx300 that might have been released in the last 2 years.

Now, if want to ask a question about some new computer games, should I just resurrect the ZX Spectrum thread?

I used to have those Sony ones pictured above but they would eventually fall out of my ears and didnt seem to come with enough bass as they didn't plug your ears like the newer ones seem to do.

Why don't you just bump the old thread asking if anyone has any updated advice?

Not rocket science is it?

i guess it depends on the user, because all of the new headphones with the detachable circular rubber things never seem to fit in my ears, even though you generally get 3 sizes to try. the more solid rubber in-ear shape suits me alot better, and yeah because they fit so well and deep the bass is lovely.

i've also found the Sony ones above are quite good in terms of a flat response, just the right amount of punch at 200hz, 500hz, just the right amount of crispness in the 3000hz area also. obviously they won't be as flat as you'd get from a decent pair of studio headphones, but for £12.99 they are an absolute steal.

The reviews on those look superb

Got them the other day, are very decent. Well worth the money.

The fuck? That's never had anything to do with anything. Ever.

Now, if want to ask a question about some new computer games, should I just resurrect the ZX Spectrum thread?

SMH. How you got around to thinking that analogy actually gave validity to whatever 'argument' you stand by beggars belief.

Another pair have perished.

Remember reading on here recently that someone had a robust pair that have lasted daily use for years but can't remember what they were called - help?

I got some NOCS NS500s that are pretty decent. On my second pair after the first gave out after about 4 years. Decent price and sound.

had E10's for over three years until I punched the cord in half in a hole punch

bought some Soundmagic HP100 over ears to replace them - sound quality is excellent - can hear a lot more detail in recordings
