ive not started yet but will be tonite after my final mixdown of this jungle tune im workin on. all the while im thumbing ideas for the blu mar ten remix comp...... some people just aint got the passion
Now you're just backpedaling. You mean't negative in the way of attitude, not in the actual action of entering or not. As if positive meant you'd affirm your entry, and negative as in you'd decline the entry. This isn't binary, it's not all 1s and 0s
I'm rambling.
Positive = you back up why you're entering Negative = you back up why you're not entering
It's not difficult to grasp, and I wasn't backpeddling.
I hope you don't all go 'Retro' futuristic like that Subwave track triffic posted... That would be embarrassing. Needs more futuristic futures...

It hasn't really evolved in the last ten years. dnb in 2012 is no different to to dnb in 2002 tbh, just shitter. The real evolution in styles happened between 92-about 97. Ever since then it's been pretty formulaic.
I feel what you're saying here in terms of real evolution in styles.
You could argue that drum n bass didn't exist in '92 but came out of the evolution of 'hardcore' then 'jungle tekno' into 'drum n bass'... for the hard/dark/techy style I prefer personally this is the case anyway.
Who is to say that what we call drum n bass now will still be called that in ten years time? If we stretch our imaginations here we could come up individually with something totally brand new with no name, and this comp gives us scope for this imo.
LOL

the pigeon holing made things bad imo, stops innovation as a lot of people begin to think that a track is weird if it doesn't fit in with the in thing of that period (not everyone, a majority though I reckon). in the 90's, although neuro or the techy rush/optical had started forming its own niche, you could go to a set and the DJ could be playing from the whole spectrum. Nowadays you can expect a full night of wobble or a full night of pads with basslines and a few ticks as the genres seem to have become all particular.
Not against this comp, but the voting surely would have to take place in 10 years?
