Rite then, After all the moaning and complaining lets get the ball rolling!!

The growth has been non-stop since the earliest beginning's of jungle and is showing no signs of slowing down in the near future.

I don't get it. Drum and Bass should sound like Drum and Bass in ten years time, twenty years time. Hip hop sounds like Hip Hop. Metal sounds like Metal. Classical music sounds like Classical music.
Aren't we all already making our own idea of how we like Drum and Bass to sound.
To add to that, Obviously the main reason the sound has evolved is due to new tech and synths and such, and short of inventing new sounds/tech, it will be impossible to make what will be played in ten years time, but as a concept future drum and bass is a solid idea to play with imo. Just try to make it sound futuristic, however you interpret that. That's how i took it anyway. Just an opportunity to look forward instead of backwards for a change.

Exactly. We should all already be trying to make our own version of future drum and bass anyway. The reason DnB is so diverse a genre is because of that. In ten years time there'll be the same stuff there is now. If it becomes radically different it won't be drum and bass.
It hasn't really evolved in the last ten years. dnb in 2012 is no different to to dnb in 2002 tbh, just shitter. The real evolution in styles happened between 92-about 97. Ever since then it's been pretty formulaic.
But you hate most modern drum and bass and moan about it being shit all the time so why do you even care Stimpy? Its clearly not a competition for you is it.
Why don't you just wait till the entries are in then you can just poke fun at them?
"LOL THAT JUST SOUNDS LIKE A SHIT VERSION OF THIS TUNE FROM 95 DOT DOT DOT YEWTUBE LINK"

if everythings gonna be sounding the same 10 years from now then we have hit the limit of sound with dnb, so why not quit? why waste effort making something that sounds the same? dont be pathetic. the point is to make something that sounds different!! doesnt mean you have to change genre does it??

So you're imagining what we've already got in 10 years then. Don't tell me I got no imagination, I didn't imagine such a stupid idea for a competition.
I like the idea of this comp, I think you can safely say that someone will be making stuff at 170-180 in ten years time, even though drum n bass stopped getting faster in the mid-late 90's.
With this 'predict the future music' business though, I can't help thinking of disco's featured in the Buck Rogers TV show in the late 70's - the music was exactly like the disco that was played in the late 70's.
Generally, sci-fi over the years has had a really hard job getting it any way right predicting the future. But then in 1989 who would have thought that people would have been jumping around to 180bpm 10 years later?
Tempted to have a go at this, I'll get back to you.

It should have been in 20 years instead. The idea that you could improve on something that have evolved so little in such a long period kind of suggest that you'd have to really exaggerate whats already there. Which is hard, which means that a lot of people hopefully will take a more satirical approach to these wellknown elements. The concept of future is such nerd fodder to dnb-heads that it will help to keep it serious at the same time, I think.
