I'd like to do it but being vegetarian for 5 years was hard enough work. It's so shit going out for a meal and having the token vegetarian option which is nearly always rank.

Q: How do you know if someone is a vegan?

A: Don't worry, he/she will let you know about it

The person that wrote that is almost certainly contributing towards the death of beings without even realising.

I made roast leg of lamb yesterday and it was divine. Sorry sheep!

Although in comparison the other night I went out with a couple of pals to a rustic pizza place and sat there with a G&T and butternut squash salad like a right homo. (Everyone else has meaty pizzas and jugs of beer). I was rightly laughed at

People talk about vegans banging on about veganism but there are far more chip-on-shoulder meat eaters who bang on about it.

It seems common to confuse vegetarianism with Veganism these days. There are a lot of vegans wearing leather.

I have the most annoying vegan in the world ever on my Facebook, she posts pictures of EVERYTHING she eats in a day, and this woman eats an awful lot. She is fat, and hashtags everything as well which is also irritating. Hashtagging your kids and pets' names is not going to get you more instagram followers, so I don't understand why they need to be hashtagged as well? They are hardly likely to start trending are they? Then there's the Youtube videos about cows etc, and capital letter rants about 'TITPUSS' and 'Animals murdered and dragged away from their mummies' .
This chick also homeschools her kids and she is not the brightest spark at all. One of her mates commented on one of her million updates a day that she should register and get some help with the homeschooling, she said she 'doesn't give a fuck, they need to learn things about life and what they want to learn instead of shitty maths etc'
So far she has taught them singing and taken them to an eco hut several times.

I might delete her actually, only just realised how much she jars me lol

You don't see many fat vegans, in fairness. I thought going hungry was part of the game tbh.

It takes a lot of hubris to think you can do a better job than an entire school, even a rubbish one.

Yeah I struggle to get my head round this. Unless you're eating spoons full of coconut oil for dinner.

She is fat because she eats about 100 times a day, and when she is not eating she is writing HUNGRY or STARVING on Facebook lol . If you eat non stop all day you'll put weight on, however 'healthy' your diet.
Crisps, chips, bread etc are going to put a bit of timber on you. I can't fathom how someone thinks it's ok to drink a huge smoothie in the morning, then have breakfast, then have snacks all day. Grim

There seems to be this accepted stereotype that vegans thrust their views upon people and demand that everyone should be as righteous as them.

In my experience this is bollocks. Obviously if you go for a meal, it's going to become apparent that that person is vegan, but I've never experienced that person who acts like a tosspot and bangs on about veganism relentlessly.

My experience of them (and I deal with thousands of them each year) is this sterotype is pretty much spot on.

The majority I have come across are like the Jehovah's trying to force their point of view down your throat at every opportunity and sneering at anyone who eats animal carcases.

I've even come across militant ones who sneer at people who have gone Vegan for health or environmental motivations, unless you go Vegan due to Animal Welfare you are not a proper Vegan in their eyes.

They are essentially like a cult - apologies to anyone on here who ain't like that BTW

I have one mate who is Vegan and other than having a sensible conversation over a pint (actually when I bring it up) he doesnt do any of the forced stuff - he chose to do it due to animal cruelty

Its not something I feel I can or want to do myself, I come from a farming bloodline and although I know factory farms are different - small local farms that sell milk to the likes of Tescos M&S etc treat animals better than we often treat other humans. Thats before the feeling I am destroying family members livelihood by not using a product for which they are part of the chain (I realise a million times removed when I buy from shops)

I’d like to go full vegan one day, mostly for environmental reasons and having watched that Simon Amstell thing.

It’s going to be bloody hard work and I’m not sure I’m ready to completely give it all up yet. I’m compromising with having given up my meat intake to the point where I try to be veggie roughly two thirds of the time at the moment and going to try and slowly build it from there over time.

It'd probably be better if more people did this, rather than a minority dealing in absolutes.

Can i ask why you lot felt the need to give up eating meat? Just curious. You cant have loved eating steaks etc that much to have decided to give it up. For me it would be a huge issue.

ex alcoholics probably couldnt have loved ever drinking booze that much

former heroin addicts probably werent really into it deep down

etc etc
