Oh my days there's a Jay & Silent Bob podcast

Jay and Bob get old is hilarious. Proper immature humour and 90% is Jay talking about pussy, but it is fucking gold when it works.

The recent one with Jay talking about being coming off heroin in rehab with Ben Affleck and trying to rub one out with him asleep in the same room had me creasing hard.

Just done a search on 'Podcast' and there's shitloads of them. Has anyone gone through the trouble of compiling them onto one list yet?

Someone save me from trawling through the entire forum

The Daniel Morgan murder/cover-up etc is a UK scandal that has been rumbling beneath the headlines for a long time. There's just been a podcast series about it come out that's been really successful. I've not listened to it yet, but have heard that the first episode is less good than the rest of it.

I thought he didn't announce the guests so just picked at random, lucked out with Graham Linehan. Could have ended up with Russel Kane and Tim Minchin the week after, I wouldn't have gone. brrrr

Just started getting in to the Athletico Mince podcasts with Bob Mortimer and Andy Dawson. Takes one or two episodes to get in to it properly but it's had me in stitches. Barely any actual football chat in it. If you like Vic and Bobs stuff you'll like this.

Re: RE: Recommend a Podcast 2016/08/09 18:14:05 (permalink)
After recommending a podcast about a murder that was not investigated properly in the UK, and that the UK media seemed to have a connection to and has failed to report properly... here's a podcast about a UK medical trail that was not investigated properly in the UK, that the UK media become involved in and has failed to report properly. This was the first medical trial to get funding from the DWP, and is being used to make misleading claims about being being able to rehabilitate and recover from health problems: http://www.microbe.tv/twiv/twiv-397/

I think that we might be a rubbish country.

It's not very funny, other than the clear exasperation of the NYT reporter who has investigated it at the way the UK establishment seems to just ignore criticism.

This looks like quackery to me.

The medical research scandal discussed in the podcast I posted above looks to be blowing up after a tribunal ruled data needs to be released, and that they'd tried to avoid releasing data with massively exaggerated claims about their critics being psychotic quasi-terrorists.

Cheers for the links, I agree the flu vaccine thing is a bit suspect. To be fair to him there has been extensive research on the health benefits of coconut oil, chlorella, vitamin d, and vitamin k2 since he made those claims in 05/06. I supplement all of them daily and hadn't heard of him until this week. I wouldn't dismiss this podcast so readily, it really does contain a lot of interesting information.

No problem. I've heard the health advantages of coconut oil has been exaggerated, but yeah, it does seem that there's growing evidence for the benefits of vitamin D supplementation for people spending most of their time inside.

The trouble is that the benefits of these things can be pretty minor, and it's a lot easier to do harm from following dodgy advice. The more I've read about medical research the more I think it's best to be pretty cautious with any interventions: even supposedly respectable 'mainstream' advice often seems founded on shit evidence (as the podcast I linked to illustrates).

It seems that in medicine/diet/etc people get an audience by pretending to know more than they can, and the ones we should really be listening to are the people looking confused, shrugging their shoulders and complaining that "this data is a confusing mess of contradictions".
