If you want it for games don't get the desire, it does not have multi touch or a dedicated graphics chip. That was why I got rid. Other than that it is an awesome  phone.

Once available, the handset is expected to launch on deals with Orange UK, who scored exclusivity on the upcoming handset.

I hope that's wrong, would love to get this but fuck going with Orange!

If anyone wants to buy my desire, 6 months old, screen and case in top condition (had covers on since bought), except scratches on the top around the headphone plug. I'll even flash it or whatever shitty term has been coined for android phones. Also throw in a 4gb memory card. £240

I haven't bought a contract phone for ages and looking to get the HD Desire with a 'free' 3DS.....do the free calls include data usage usually? It doesn't mention anything about free data, just 900 free minutes.

Whats the monthly on that? cheapest i could see was 45. unless it states it that little chart thing on sites it wont include data, well on voda anyway, but then you can add unlimited data for 5 so it depends on your initial plan i spose.

£35, 900 minutes, unlimited texts, free gift. 24 month contract though. Could get 13 months free which would work out a lot better than getting a 3DS but i'm skint and want a 3DS!

Look into the specs for sure.

HD is my favorite atm due to the larger screen but spec wise the last 15 odd phones released by htc have hardly any major differences.

Had my Desire about a month now, I like it a lot but I reckon the iPhone is probably a better phone from what I've seen of other peoples.

There are a couple of things that bug me, in particular the really small amount of built in memory and also the way I'm constantly adjusting the ring volume by accident. Camera isn't amazing either. Also the Android app store is shit, they really need to make it more searchable and introduce some quality control. I read that they recently had to remove 50 apps that were full of malware and that's something you would never see on the iPhone app store. Google need to sort that shit out. Sure they will do though.

Loving the navigation, and also it's great being completely synced up with my contacts, calendar and gmail for free. Having a smart phone has definitely made me much more organised.

Depends what you want it for. If it's just tethering then there are other phones available. To get the most from a Desire you need to have a bit of experience with hacking phones as with any phone, they come loaded with bloatware. Loads of online help.

That said, when I got mine it was only 2.1. Now 2.2 is out, the operation system has improved so much. Soon, 2.3 will be officially rolled out. Beware though, battery life sucks if you spend hours streaming music, connected to 3G, playing games etc. Loads of people have said charging the phone everyday is annoying. As above though, depends how much you want to spend and what you want it for.

You can get Desire's for a reasonable monthly plan now. If you want the latest phone expect to be tied into a 24 month, £35+ contract.

nice one, i think i might get the phone non contract though.. ballsy I know but the unlimited data payg deals are great atm (giffgaff/3) i feel i should hold out for the new ones to come and hope they bring a big price drop but pay day is soon and being able to use it at work is a big incentive to get it asap!

Is it worth wiping mine and cracking it? Cos the OS seems like it's falling to pieces and I fucking hate it at the moment.

Apart from free apps, whats the advantages?

Was very tempted to buy the Desire HD, but after hearing how shit the battery life is and how small things like volume ring and the unresponsive screen/android crashing im guna wait until the desire S comes out around the 18th of april which has a better battery and a better design.

Well, I pre-ordered my Google Nexus S and should get it this friday. Going to sell my HTC Magic, and probably in about 3 months buy the Samsung Galaxy S2 and sell my unlocked Nexus S for pretty much the same price I payed for it. If all goes to plan...

The Nexus S is a beauty though... I may keep it and forgo the S2... Although the S2 has loads of features I really want.

Been playing with the LG 2X today. It's a fucking beast.

Although it has the LG symbol attached. Undecided.

Screen is decent. Looks a little sharper than the Android devices out at the moment, but nothing to get excited about.

got a htc desire hd on 18month £20 a month contract, lowered to £15 after 9months with £50 quidco so all in all about £260 odd quid for the phone paid intrest free over 18months (£400+ straight buy..) the contract is shit so I'm not even using that, just stuck a giff gaff sim in and I'm paying £10 a month for 250mins unlim text FULLY unlimited net.

Think I got a good deal really, could even sell it for a profit hah
