No joke man, I hadn't even looked around the menu, gallery, music folders, I didn't even know what apps came pre-loaded with it. All I knew this morning was that I wanted root access so I can get rid of the bloatware (which is minimal, but still) and I want it now.

The battery life on the One X sounds like a joke, so does how hot it gets

I've heard this. It got a bit warm earlier when I was flashing .img recovery and continuously restarting etc. Wasn't worried about it though. Having a custom ROM on there people are saying that the battery is amazing compared to stock. I don't know what stock is like cause I never used it.

Gets quite hot, but then so do most HTC phones. Check the battery temp by dialling *#*#info#*#* Below 40 degrees is normal

I haven't put any apps on it yet. I did have an app that displayed temp with a widget. Battery info iirc

Hmmm. It's got to the stage now where every new smartphone is pretty much the same in terms of basic stats, and there's not too much immediate room for useful improvements currently as far as I can see. Screens are as good as they need to be and there's not much real benefit in increasing cpu power or RAM as things stand. Things like 3D are pointless gimmickry. The big thing in the next few years now is surely battery life, show me a smart phone that I can charge on Monday and use properly until Friday without a recharge and I'd bite your hand off for it. I'm sure CPU power will continue to increase though regardless of how useful it actually is, bound to be a race on for the first 2Ghz phone.

So, after about ages of waiting it out, finally sending the phone off for repair it came back unexpectedly a week later. Instead of fixing it like they said they have I swear its a brand new Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0.3 which is nice. Anyone on T-Mobile had the ICS upgrade? Or does this confirm I have a brand new handset?

Might have to root my S2 soon, just out of boredom really, vanilla android is so much nicer too. Battery life on the HTC Desire over doubled when I last did it. S2 is such a good phone though, never had an issue

Just claim it as lost if you brick it I had a BlackBerry Storm. THe very first one with a screen as a button. I hacked that almost immediately as is was slow and annoying as shit. I think that was 2-3 consecutive contracts ago. ~ 2003

Motorola Droid RAZR M / RAZR I FINALLY looks like there'll be an Android phone with decent battery that actually fits in your pocket. Hopefully other manufacturers will take note.
