I haven't played a video game this much since I was a stoned 15 year old
During my first attempts last year, I didn't get beyond level 7.
Anyway, I've started again and I'm completely hooked. There was so much stuff I should have been doing over this last week while I have been making my way to a level 20 arch mage.
I don't know how much longer I'm able to justify sinking this much time into something with nothing tangible to show for it.
Just started playing this. Where can you get lock picks from very early on in the game?
Just search every corpse and storage you come across (apart from barrels, they pretty much just store food). Even with a low lockpicking skill at the start I find I collect lockpicks faster than I break them.
Bow is the most effective weapon of the whole game imo dragon or otherwise, once you've got all the bow perks you're unstoppable. Also unbelievably satisfying jooking next idiot from long range.
gonna start playing this again, whats the best way to kill dragons if you only use one handed weapons and are shit at magic, should I use the bow?
My melee one-handed/shield character uses archery against dragons. My conjuration mage uses atronachs and archery against dragons. My stealth illuision rogue uses archery against them too.
If there's a better way of attacking them I've missed a trick.
I bought this game last week. Holy shit. I can't stop thinking about it.
I just want to play it all the time. I can't wait for Friday night just so I can stay up late and play it until 6 in the morning.
It's fucking beautiful. Last night I emerged from an underground forest at twilight and heard a dragon some way off, so found it and just watched it fly about for 10 minutes in the moonlight.
Not sure there's much point ever playing another computer game after this.

Its funny that you say that. I've played almost nothing since this game.

LOL!
You think that's bad...you should read the rest of this thread mate. Some proper hilarious sentences in here.
If I made Skyrim, all quests would involve picking garlic, writing lists involving garlic, chopping garlic, sharpening my garlic chopping knife and level 10 alchemy skills in mixing garlic and chilli.
As a rule of thumb if anywhere is more than a 10 minute walk, then I fast travel. I find you still get as much adventure out of a 10 minute journey then say, an hour long one, which I could see getting tiresome really quickly.
Having said that, I've just come up with a little mission:
Plan out a journey, from west to east, that has you visiting all the towns.
The rules are:
1) You are only allowed to start off with 20 gold coins and 4 food items 2) You must sleep for at least 6 hours during the night (waiting doesn't count) 3) You must eat twice a day 4) If you die, that's it, mission failed 5) No companions unless you meet one along the way 6) No fast travelling
(for an easier version: start off with additional basic armour, one melee weapon and one bow with no more than 50 arrows)
This was fucking hard, only made it a quarter way around the map. Need to try it again.
I might have to give this another go later. Since I completed the main quest I've gotten so hard that I was rinsing everything no problem, no challenge = not much fun.
Are there any hidden super badass bosses about that are still tough when you're level 50+ ?
Aside from that the only thing for me to do would be missioning about collecting all the remaining shouts.
Also, does anything happen when you've collected all the masks?
Downloaded Dawnguard, played about an hour then got a bit bored. After going back to other games and not playing it for a while it's really annoying how long the load times are
