I'd prefer it without the vocal but this is big:

liking that, cheers

this one's a bit old now but still quite heavy. i'd rather have an instrumental version l too though... the male voice that comes in after about 2:30 sounds like it's just from a different song altogether-

Seemed like it was only gonna get better in 2010.  You're right, it's not like it was.

Yeah so true but there's still a couple new nice bits floating around.

Even Mak & Pasteman have gone down the techno line but still drawing out some bangers...

the Floating Points album from last year was excellent though. he's one guy who's still making interesting and brilliant music imo

i still check for martyn, midland, four tet and few others too, but i dunno, not a lot really moves me

the clicky, clattery swamp81-esque fad seems to have passed now. not sure what labels like hessle and hemlock are up to these days

p.s. first track on that bodyjack ep is pretty heavy

Yeah. 2009/10 it was proper exciting, all the people coming out of dubstep like the Hessle guys, Martyn, Brackles, Shortstuff/Mickey Pearce, Untold etc etc not conforming to any genre was brilliant.
fast forward a few years and all they want to do is play at fucking Berghain and make joyless predictable techno.

I listened to the new Mickey Pearce album the other night. it's so incredibly boring compared to the stuff he used to do on Blunted Robots.

Re: RE: Jamie XX... et al 2016/08/03 15:51:34 (permalink)
i think the birth-collapse cycle of genres gets shorter and shorter every time doesn't it? all these producers bring in influences from different genres, make something new that no-one quite knows how to describe, and then very quickly it goes from fresh and exciting to stale... and everyone who made it exciting in the first place has already moved on to something else

i still listen to this quite often. yeah it jumps about across genres a bit clunkily in places but pretty much every single tune is amazing
