What would the London crewdem say is their favourite smokehouse?

reds is good

smokestack at street feast, hawker house and dinerama is amazing too

hotbox down by commercial street is nice

blue boar by st james park is a great fancy sit-down joint

Blues Kitchens are quite nice around the city

red dog is good if you like eating challenges

duke's brew n que in dalston is probably my favourite though

don't really rate The Joint or the big easy

Great list mate thanks for that. Some of those look awesome. Im heading in to london for my 30th at the end of the month, usually go Bodeans in soho as i fuckin love it there but do wana try one of these this time, blues kitchen and reds look awesome..mate of mine swears by red dog saloon though. Which would you say is best of those 3?

Probably reds mate. Great meat, sauces, beer selection and atmosphere.

Blues kitchen can be dead nice but since it's a chain and is really popular at the weekends, there isn't such high quality control...for example, on a Saturday night in the Camden high street branch, I've had a few pretty shit meals.

Red Dog is fun, but I'd say unless you wanted to do one of the eating challenges, you can do better...

Sweet yeah i was looking at reds the most tbh...ive heard the portions are a bit of a letdown for the money but then if its quality you get what you pay for i guess

I always say this to anyone going, but check out Smorgasburg in Brooklyn. Very hipster but the food is immense. It's in Prospect Park during the Spring/Summer but I'm sure I read they'd started doing an indoor thing during the Winter too.

Have a good one mate! When are you heading out?

Cheers brother!

Flying out next Thursday for 5 nights, been looking at TripAdvisor too but there's so much choice.

I want to check out Brooklyn/Queens/Harlem but not sure I'll have the time.

Switch get the Pitmaster tray at Reds, the brisket is immense.

New York Dons, hit me up.

Manhattan especially.

few more bro... couple from me and some from a mate who lives out there

Murray's Bagels (a couple of locations) for best bagel

Minetta Tavern does the best burger. Cool restaurant in West Village. It is difficult to get a dinner reservation so lunch might be a better option. Order the Black Label burger. $30 but incredible.

Honourable mentions for good burgers:
- JG Melon (old school NY pub on upper east side with a new branch in west village)
- Burger Joint (secret burger place behind the red curtain inside Le Parker Meridien Hotel on W 56th Street in Midtown).
- Spotted Pig in W Village has a famous burger and is a cool gastropub even for a drink. Part owned by Jay Z, Fatboy Slim, Chris Martin etc.

Other food places
- Lombardis - Nolita - famous old pizza place
- Joe's Pizza in West Village (Bleecker St) is also famous for a NY style slice.
- Momofuku - a few different branches. Popular Asian fusion place.
- Momofuku Mill bar - best cookies.
- I really like a cool Italian place called Emilio's Ballato on W Houston St (Little Italy/East Village area).
- Serendipity 3 is a famous desert place in midtown (60th and Lexington). Weirdly Di Caprio seems to love it as he is often papped in there.

Peter Luger steakhouse in Williamsburg is my favourite restaurant in NY. Again v difficult to get a booking. They open about 28 days in advance but if you can get it then I really recommend it. Will be about $100 per person.

Mimi is best new restaurant I have been to. It's in West Village (Sullivan St).

I also really enjoyed a place called Upland.

If you know somehow out in NY, try to get them to get you in here. I went to the one in Vegas and it was the best Italian food I've had outside of Siena http://www.raosrestaurants.com/location_ny.html

Fuck, the one in my list was meant to be Joe's Pizza, not John's lol. The link I had was broken so found that on Google, thought it was odd that they'd moved to Times Sq! I've updated my list now.

Going to be in London on Saturday, suggestions on good places to eat in Convent Garden that you can book?
I know there's loads of places in Covent Garden but what're peoples personal favs? Quite tempted to hit up Ippudo as the ones in Tokyo/Kyoto were amazing, anyone been to the London one?

Covent Garden's a bit shit for food tbh m8

If you're after ramen I'd recommend Shoryu or Bone Daddies in soho.

Smoking goat is amazing if there's a few of you:

yeah, only really tourists go out around covent garden. saying that though:

fire + stone for pizza is quite good

balthazar is a nice venue... fairly standard french classics on the menu

meat market if you want quick and easy dude food... you can't book, but it's normally quite quiet on a saturday because it's hard to find

but yeah, smoking goat would be my choice. it's about five minutes up the road.

or dishoom if there's six or more of you. modern indian. fucking delicious.

Nice one guys, wanted to go to Dishoom but there's only 4 of us unfortunately and don't have enough time to be queueing. Smoking Goat menu looks right up my street.

Brisket town/Delaney's BBQ in Williamsburg Brooklyn is pretty tasty....fairly good value for NYC I found. They do a banging alcoholic root beer

Will try and remember a few more spots

West 46th between 8th and 9th Avenues has a load of great places and plenty of variety. None of it of that hip or trendy but all good.

I particularly like

Hourglass Tavern (betti bar upstairs)
Joe Allen

I always seem to end up in Hells Kitchen when I go through NYC.

Just seen that Shahi Nan has moved to a bigger place down the road as the Railway wanted their old premises back. Great news, only reason I didn't go more often is the lack of seating. They do by far the best chicken wings and chicken donor I've ever tasted.

https://www.instagram.com/shahinankabab/

This is not fine dining or somewhere to take someone you've just met on a date, it's all about how good it tastes rather than top quality service, its really cheap too.

No.  Dutch cuisine isn't the most exciting in the world but you'd be wrong to write it off based on your experiences in the red light district.

Been to Amsterdam many times and tbf only really tried to find a decent restaurant on about 3 or 4 visits. Never found anything of note.

Most Dam visits I couldn't give a shit. Wok to walk and a spliff and i'm happy.
