PES 2019 is already being given away free on Xbox Game Pass. That one must really have tanked. At least getting a game online should be easier now.

So are loads of other games though? PES is always quite cheap by Christmas. It's a great game.

Last season FIFA was on Origin Access Basic in January.

I prefer the new PES to fifa, I’m not into all that online team/league stuff though so for just a game with someone it’s better. Feels more responsive.

£17.99 in Smyths Toys now

I picked it up for £23 and it is actually quite good..you don't have to faff about with the silly toys attached to it thank god. So glad I didn't pay £70 for it though when it launched

Picked up megadrive classics too but not had a chance to play it yet..

Thanks all for the suggestions. Is Celeste as stupidly hard as it looks? I quite like the look of it, but not sure I can handle the frustration of a game with a constant need to make perfect jumps.

It’s just the right level of difficulty imo, I completed it, you die a lot but don’t have to go back too far when you do.

Exactly this. I found I was never repeating the same section so many times that it became frustrating. It feels very intuitive and you learn it all pretty quickly. The music is so good in it as well that you won't care too much about all the dying.
Jonesy.

Celeste is one of my all time favourite games. It's superb. I still listen to the music now on Spotify.

Thanks all, went for Celeste and Death Road to Canada and early impressions for both is good, Celeste especially. Also downloaded the demo of Death Squared and I really like that so will grab the full game at some point.

Dead Cells is so good man. Up there with Isaac and Gungeon as my favourite roguelites.

No one suggested Enter the Gungeon, have you played that?

No haven't played that. Do you recommend it? It looks hard as nails! Dead cells is amazing. Picked it up for a quick 10 minute blast the other day and ended up on it for well over 2 hours.

I'll add +1 for EtG, BoI, Dead Cells, Celeste.

Risk of Rain is another good Rogue.

Celeste is amazing - a great balance of being difficult enough but not frustrating. B & C sides are a lot harder.

It gets quite tough but as it's a roguelite dying isn't as annoying as in other games as you're meant to die a lot to progress, same as in Dead Cells or Binding of Isaac. The gameplay is great although I think the joy cons make it hard to be precise, I'm sure I'd be better if I was using my PC controller. Definitely recommend it, it's pretty cheap and it's one of my most played Switch games, after Mario, Zelda and Sky Force Reloaded.

Thanks mate. It's only a tenner so will get it on the dl tonight and give it a go. Have spent a lot of time recently on RDR2, and Spiderman before that, so looking for a few easy to pick up and play games that I don't need to invest as much time into - not saying that these are disposable games, but they don't have that story driven narrative so much easier to dip in and out of.

Yeah it's nice to have a good mixture, for a while I was only playing huge open world games so I started missing games with a challenge, now I play loads of roguelites. Knowing that you're meant to die a lot takes away the frustration. Have you tried Binding of Isaac? That's the best of the lot imo. It might seem a bit overpriced but there's a huge amount of content, I'm still finding new weapons every time I play.

Re: RE: GAMERS!! 2018/12/18 13:53:58 (permalink)
Yeah I have steered away from that one mainly as I haven't played a lot of rougelites yet and I'm not sure they are exactly for me, plus that one is the priciest of the lot. Dead cells seemed a bit different given it is a platform based hack and slasher rather than a shooter. Will see how I get on with ETG and might consider it at a later stage.

Re: RE: GAMERS!! 2018/12/18 14:01:47 (permalink)
It's more similar to Gungeon but nowhere near as challenging (on normal), the challenge comes from the randomness of the pick ups rather than needing quick reflexes and precise aiming like in Gungeon. Sometimes you get some pick ups that make you unstoppable and sometimes you get ones that make you useless, there's hundreds of items and weapons and they synergize to create thousands of possibilities meaning almost every run is different.
