don't worry, found it

How does it compare to a Switch?

Definitely showing it's age but for the price it's a no brainer, there's loads of old Playstation games on there that aren't available for PS4. Low frame rates is a problem in loads of games and so is the low resolution, the screen is an OLED so it's better than the Switch's screen in lots of ways but even on max brightness it's a bit too dark.

Being able to play PS4 games on the bog or even on the go with a strong connection is pretty fackin sweet

Finished Evil Within 2 - it's good.

Started it on Sunday and not too sure what to make of it. I found the first hour or so really boring. Controls are also pretty much as awkward as were in the first game which i did like a lot but it had a lot of flaws .I thought they would fix that bit more.

Im bit mixed on the whole hub world bit. The american town setting sort of makes it feel bit more like The Last of Us rather than the gothic type surrealness of first game.

I'm not that far into it though.

How long of a game is it out of interest ?

Good questions.
The town is distinctly underwhelming design-wise. That would be my other main criticism. There are a lot of other areas in the game, the town bits are the main world hub bits, but there's a lot of other linear areas with more impressive styles - including some gothic surrealness, but less outright disjointed weirdness than the first game.

I was a bit mixed about it at the early stages to be honest, but I enjoyed it more and more throughout, the last 3 chapters especially (this may coincide with me saving up 75,000 green gel for the Slow Time perk which I wish I'd done first, helps so much with ammo conservation).

Long enough - I've got 41 hours clocked up but maybe 10 of those were alt-tabbed. 20+ hours at least. I didn't have to do too much reloading on annoying bosses etc.

This shows a few more styles in the game:

Cool and helpful post.

ive played more and am on chapter 8 (the boss fight with the psycho artist bloke) .  Played 15 hours. Spent a quite lot of time exploring in chapter 4 or somtething.

Still bit of a mixed bag for me. There is a lot i like about it - i like there sidemissions, the hub world i like now and game is genuinely creepy creeping around it. Whoever did the sound design and FX should get an award...but i find the combat still clumsy as hell - i swear they've made the stealth actually worse than the original game and it was pretty bad in that.

Framerate issues also. Notable slowdown during certain action parts. Also loading times after dying . These were problems the first game had.  Am playing on vanilla PS4 tho.

Its decent at moment.

Artist guy was a dick and that was the boss fight that most annoyed me (minorly and mostly because of his taunts). His creations were pretty cool tho.

I can't remember stealth in the first, and I didn't do nearly as much of it in this one as you were suppose to do (I get a bit bored with it, also I wanted to kill everything for that sweet sweet green gel). I was pretty new to over-the-shoulder 3PS with the first one so I got all of my....abhorrence of super-clunky controls vented then (not exactly Quake or Doom2016!), this one I was ready for moving in treacle with controls that are transmitted by carrier pigeon.

Sound design aye, I turned the music right down as I do for almost all games. Then I turned it right back up again - really well done. Penultimate chapter sounds are great.

------

Off-topic, got back into playing Mordheim City Of The Damned last night after previously royally fucking my warband abandoning a mission, losing my leader and injuring most of my troops. Before-bed chill-stream gaming it is not. But in the gothic-fantasy-melee-focused-3rd-person-movement-turn-based-tactics game genre, it still doesn't have many rivals....

...is this what you want???

could be one of the best Switch games next year

What's this all about then? Never heard of it before your post. Watched some vids of the previous game .. it seems like a lot of story and voice acting and minimal gameplay.

What's the appeal?

The artist guy was irritating boss fight but goit passed him after few goes but this flame thrower boss bloke on now is nearly fucking invincible or something. God knows how many times ive shot him and have had him lose mask but just does not seem to fucking die after that.

Nearly smashed my controller many times now. One of the worse boss fights ever.

Quantum Break is shit hot, dunno why i waited so long to play it considering how much i love Alan Wake. Shame about having to play 1080p/30fps on PC though.

Just gone back to Rainbow Six Seige after a long break and realised it's probably my favourite game of this console generation.

I'm really not feeling the art style for Mega Man 11. It seems very sterile and also reminds me of Mighty No. 9

Shame it's a broken mess though ay! And it's 1440p, not 4k. And have you got upscaling on, If i turn it off i can't even keep 30fps at 1440p and my graphics card is better than the one in an Xbox One.

"in honor of the tenth anniversary of the first Assassin’s Creed game, you’ll be able to get Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag for free from December 12 (6AM PST) through December 18 (2AM PST). As long as you download the games through Uplay during their free periods, they will be yours to keep and play whenever you like."

If you don't already have it, this game is great.

Personally never liked the AC series but thought Black Flag was pretty outstanding and it did a nice job of making you feel a bit piratey when playing it.

Hmm not sure about this, i wasn't really interested in it when it came out but there is such a shortage of decent VR games and the good ones i have are just short experiences, 40 quid though

This is pretty sick. On a huge scale now, it never used to be this professional and slick. Love this orchestra.

Only Nintendo could get away with putting a fucking motorbike in a Zelda game. New DLC is a good excuse to get back into BotW though.
