The motion controlled bits in Breath Of The Wild are fucking terrible, as they were in Skyward Sword.

Spinning those big structures in some of the shrines is a massive pain in the arse. I usually get on really well with motion (I can play Star Fox Zero) but I ended up getting my bird to do one of them before I smashed it up.

Using the gyro to aim the bow is perfection though.

I seem to only be able to complete them by pure luck by spinning the controller around, they are so shit and unnecessary.

I wouldn't say the bow aiming is anywhere close to perfect, it's frequently annoying.

Motion controls should be strictly for VR where they are done properly and add value.

What annoys you about the aiming ?

I learned to play shooters with a keyboard + mouse and have always struggled to aim fast with analogue sticks. Gyro assisted aiming feels a lot more natural to me.

Splatoon is great with gyro controls, I get shot to fuck without them. I would love to play Doom like that, all shooters should have it.

Had an Xbox Elite controller for 6 months with no issues using it for most games and using a cheaper controller for FIFA. The first ever fucking time i use it for FIFA it breaks within 2 minutes. What a piece of shit these things are.

The more i play Mass Effect the less i like it.

These fucking remnant decryption puzzles are the type of bullshit that make me stop playing a game forever.

Found my first few plays throughs quite hard, aim to focus the starter ship at having high DPS and a a crew that can deal with boardings. I like the rock dudes and mantis for that have 3 or ideally four for dealing with boarding's. Enemy ships aim to chip away at there shield then rape them with one of the high tear weapons. Always hit the shield first unless the ship your facing is much lower level ship than yours

Brilliant game, took me to about my 3rd or 4th play through to get to the boss. The game does risk reward very well...

Giant spiders, avoid like the plague they will fuck you up normally just when your about to form the perfect crew. Your fully leveled crew member will get munched :D

I cannot put this Zelda game down..... best Zelda game for me so far. My fave thus far was Wind Waker which I started playing again recently.... it seems so linear compared to this.

yeah, Skyward Sword was technically a prequel, but it took everything brilliant about Ocarina and moved it on imo. felt fesh, even though it featured a few of the same ideas and characters. i also quite liked the motion controls and they worked fine for me all the time. having to sword fight shadow link was a right fucking pain though.

Twilight Princess was also superb

will bag Breath of the Wind at some point. need to play that and Mario Odyssey.

currently just starting Destiny on ps4 though, really enjoying it so far

No. After playing about 35 hours I've lost interest a bit and been side tracked by Mass Effect. I will definitely finish it but it's far from a perfect game or the best game ever. I'd give it 8/10 so far. Too many annoying mechanics like the stamina bar, awful motion controls, breaking weapons, having to cook food, extremely poor frame rate and poor writing and voice acting. The open world design with its verticality and varied environments, sense of discovery and tight controls with generally excellent game play are the aspects that will keep me coming back. Maybe the most disappointing aspect is the almost complete lack of music other than in brief moments. Survival games didn't appeal to me before playing this and they still don't but as it's Zelda I will soldier on.

Of course it's not, to suggest that any game is perfect is pure fanboy behaviour.

Jim gives his reasons for his apparently harsh review score in his review and they seem totally justified to me. He still says that it's a good game though.

If it wasn't called Zelda it wouldn't have got so many perfect reviews. I think reviewers just decide they love it before even playing it because of the nostalgia associated with the series. You see them ripping apart Mass Effect for some slightly dodgy facial animation and fetch quests when Zelda barely even has any facial animation and a shit load of fetch quests yet the reviews don't even mention that.

Probably more to do with Nintendo having a new system to sell with no games.

When overviewing Horizon, Jim Sterling is one of the only reviewers to mention Monster Hunter. I have to respect the guy. Drawing parallels with Zelda is questionable at best.

I'm still loving Zelda. Got through 2 dungeons now and spent the last few hours gameplay just going around opening up areas of the map and shrines. Haven't got bored doing any of it so far.

I've spent about 60 hours just opening up the map, hunting and finding shrines. I opened the elephant dungeon but decided to go back later when I'm more powered up.

Not had a game keep my attention like this since I was a kid.

I literally can't wait for this. It's going to be the best game ever made - I just know it. I CAN FEEL IT.

It's not going to come out until 2077 though and I'll be fucking dead by then.

Some good deals on the PS Store, only 9.99 for Final Fantasy XV. Bloodborne for about 15 quid so finally going to give it a go and then probably complain about how I wasted money on it. Ten pound credit back next month when you spend 50 quid too. Just grabbed Horizon, Bloodborne and Nathan Drake collection.

Still loving Zelda but I've got to the Goron dungeon, hit a wall and can't be arsed with the mental frustration of running around titling everything 90 degrees and getting nowhere after a hard day at work.

Well aware I could watch a Youtube walk through and it would be a piece of piss but I want to finish this one clean with no outside assistance.

Much prefer running around and exploring to the dungeons and shrines tbh.

Horizon is the first big open world game where I've actually wanted to do all of the side quests, collections and all the rest of it to get to 100%. The game just keeps getting better, if this isn't my GOTY by the end of this year I'll be amazed.
