when will they realise Silent Hill needs to return to it's roots? Same for Resi. Have you played the new Alan Wake yet Razor? I haven't been keeping up to date with the games lately so I'm not sure it's even out yet?
IGN are a joke, I wouldn't take their opinions seriously.
The game does look a let down nonetheless. The Jap bloke who's done the music in the entire series has left and it sounds like they've got it wrong in this one. It even has a Korn tune in the soundtrack ffs.
Also it feels like they've half-arsed tried to modernise the series by putting in side quests and destructable melee weapons, but there's too much emphasis on combat which isn't what Silent Hill horror is really about.
It's mostly getting around 7-8 review scores elsewhere. As usual IGN overrate massive 'AAA' games to appease fanboys and publishers whilst slating anything that's out of fashion.
Yeah they are but it does look terrible, Gamesradar gave it a 7 but they are very generous with their scores.

Yeah i've completed it, really enjoyed it but it's a shame it wasn't really scary like the original, it's more of an action game but i still enjoyed every minute of it. People moaned about Alan Wake being repetitive though and this one is a lot more repetitive, there are three levels that you have to complete 3 times.
I hope if they make another Alan Wake game they go in the opposite direction and make it more about the story, characters, atmosphere etc. I thought the action in the first game was fine but I didn't just want more of the same of that, hence my lack of interest in American Nightmare.
The lack of decent horror games this gen is worse than the lack of good traditional JRPGs. Even Silent Hill HD Collection has problems apparently.
Cheers man. Gonna give this one a go. What's the deal with everyone trying to add more action to games that are about atmosphere? Alan Wake got it spot on in my opinion. I can't fault it at all.

That's all kids want these days. They want survival horror games that play like Gears of War.
I liked the first 2 Gears Of War, but I don't want survival horror to play like that. Time and a place and all that. At least we've got the Silent Hill HD collection to look forward too. I don't care if they look really dated, I would much rather play them than most of the newer stuff.
6 looks good i reckon. Revelations is decent too. Still not like the old ones though.
1 and 2 were pure survival horror, then it gradually moved into action games. Still loved 3 and 4 but never bothered with 5, just looked like a shoot em up.
Only played silent hill 2 and 3, enjoyed both for what they were, random/scary running about not really knowing wtf was going on and getting scarred shitless atm times.
Bit that made me jump most was in the 2nd one, in the hospital with the radio that crackles, got a lift to the 2nd floor and it burst out with noise and you're surrounded by fuck head nurses with knifes
I loved the lighting effects of Asylum. As I've said before, a lot of new games have disappointed me to be honest. Gears 3 is a good example. I didn't make it to the end . Maybe i'll try it again in a few months pre owned.
