Why do people on here seem to think spending significant money on a watch is a waste?

Its a sound investment if you do your research and know what to buy. Good watches dont lose a great deal of money over time, especially if looked after well. In some cases they appreciate too, though its usually due to them being limited or rare.

Some people wouldnt think twice about spending £20k on a new motor that will have lost 25% of its value after a year of ownership, the chances are that they have financed it from a bank or manufacturer loan making the money owed even greater. That to me is a far greater waste.

Have you graduated from taxing people for Mephedrone to taxing people's watches??

Slipperly slope mate, you'll be taxing dealers next week and banks within a fortnight

Fair play if you can afford to spend 8g on a watch. I think i'd only end up leaving it on a bus, dropping it down a drain or being mugged for it by some scumbag like EmmDotDizzle.

Since the original AA time went there's nowhere offering finance online (that I can see after an admittedly brief search).

Weak.

It's insured, i wouldn't leave the house with it otherwise. Pretty random bump to say that too

Majik, what are you looking at? http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/ do finance but i'd imagine it easier and cheaper to borrow the dough off your bank.

Was just milling about really, saw a nice Sea Master for 2.5 which is a decent entry level piece but I didn't want to max the CC out.

I'm sure AA's finance was interest free.

2nd hand watches off 99% of places will be identical to a brand new watch, they overhaul them completly before they go out.

Classic, if I could have any watch it would be this one. But it's a bit ostentatious for someone in their mid twenties.

This is me:

Takes a bit from the Sea Dweller in terms of styling but can be picked up for £1.5k

there's a difference between clumsy and taking your watch off on a bus then leaving it, that's closer to stupid.
