Watches (@Lrrr and people with quality timepieces)

Its time for me to get a new watch.

My Tag Aquaracer is looking a little like 'my first watch'

I'm erring towards an Omega Sea or Speedmaster or another Tag and i have about £1800 - 2000 to spend but am open to other brands/models.

Got any recommendations? I dont want anything ostentatious, classy and understated is me.

Sorry if it seemed a bit of a moody question just I see watches as having one use, telling the time, if I can get something to tell the time for cheap I'd be spending the change on something else.

Not really a fan of Cartier. They're nice, but to me are more suited to those that wear suits all day.

I had the same conversation with someone at work. It's cool, its something of a tradition, and its something that will last.

id rather not have a watch on at all than a shitty looking one, its not all about it telling the time (even tho that sounds weird). good watches also hold their price well if kept mint

i love IWC watches.
nice, classy, timeless and understated - most can never go out of fashion because they are just plain classic designs, clean looking as well. i dont have big wrists, so that is what generally puts me off watches with lots going on.

well good money would turn into even more money if you invested it in something else.

I don't wear a watch at all, I just look at my phone to tell the time and if I want to spend a fair bit of money on something for image it'd be clothes rather than a watch.

But that's just me, I can see WHY people might want to spend lots of money on a watch it's just not my kinda thing.

Its time for me to get a new watch.

My Tag Aquaracer is looking a little like 'my first watch'

I'm erring towards an Omega Sea or Speedmaster or another Tag and i have about £1800 - 2000 to spend but am open to other brands/models.

Really?

I bought this Tag a couple of years ago because it was about the only full size Tag in their range that is so clean design-wise that I don't think it could ever really look old or dated - think silver faces and black details are the nicest look for any chronograph style watch, for some reason the coloured ones just look really cheap / tacky to me.

Having said that, I do still want a new watch even though this one is in immaculate shape, think I paid £1550 for it in 2007 but it's probably worth much less than that now

Sorry, its a 2000 edition, its got quite a small face, comparitively. Hence the 'my first' thing.

I like that actually. Something about it.

I'd never spank so much money on a watch unless I could afford it.
I can't help but feel that those absurdly expensive watches are just status symbols.

This is my watch- £150, nothing too pricey.

Getting this next (much cheaper than £2k though, around £600 I think)
