Lol at Diaby, Arshavin has been half the player he was last year & Nasri & RVP are made of glass.
Diaby & Song aren't established world class CM's but they have progressed well this season. Their defensive work has allowed Fab to get forward more.
Arshavin was one of the best players last night. RVP has managed to stay fit for the majority of the last season & this season, it looks as though his glass legs days are behind him.
Nasri broke his leg, broken legs heal stronger. He had 1 big injury, not loads of little ones like Rosicky.

Look at the stats before you start drawing conclusions. Arshavin, Fab and RVP are scoring and assisting for fun. Even Diaby has 4 goals ffs!
I agree that RVP needs another season without injury but what make you think Nasri is fragile? He broke his leg and was out for 2 months and it's the only serious injury he has ever suffered although he was ill with menengitis at Marseille.
Not a huge fan of Diaby. Think Arse could do better. Song is looking really good as a DM this year so you could almost got with Ramsey instead of Diaby. Be far better going forward although less secure defensively.

Don't get me wrong i really like Ramsey but i don't see him taking Diaby's spot (which actually belongs to Denilson), more of a back up for Cesc this year.
In the role of support DM without (or possibly even with) Denilson and Diaby i would have Rosicky or Nasri in there. Rosicky has played at DM for years in the Czech team (when they were good), he can really tackle and is stronger than he looks, tenacious is the word i'm looking for. Nasri showed last year that whilst he can't take on the role of main DM he has alot to offer in the middle of the park.
At the moment it look like we have an embarrassment of riches but lets see what happens when Song goes to the ACN or Gallas/Vermealen get injured, those are the positions we don't really have quality replacements ready to step in. I imagine if Denilson is fit he will anchor the midfield with Diaby, Denilson does lose his runner sometimes but these days he has the physical presence for it.
Arsenal are sick going forward although they always look good against lesser teams. And are not nearly as good at the back... Vermalen (SP??) aside.... as he looks like he could be buy of the season. They struggle against better sides though. UTD and City both beat them this season by letting them play there neat passing game everywhere except in the final third then hit them on the counter. If good teams set out against Arsenal like this they always have a chance.
Would like them to win the Prem though as even though i'm City i'm realistic that the title is beyond us this season and i'd much rathr Arsenal won it instead of the Rags or Chelsea. Mainly for football reasons though...... I mean come on, 50 goals aqlready in all competitions this season is just stupid!

Over the last few years we have always had a positive record against the big teams. In fact we've been at the top of the 'Big Four' mini league a few times since we last won anything. It's always the weak teams we have dropped points against and it looks like we are fixing that now. Utd won the title last year and were awful against the other big 4 clubs.
The game against Chelsea in a few weeks is massive and we can not afford to lose really. We should have beaten Utd and City so lets hope we've learned our lessons. That game will certainly be an indicator as to whether we have what it takes this year.

Agree with UTD. City opened you up on the counter though. 4-2 doesn't lie. Hughes actually got it right that day (it's a rare thing). He played Adebayor up top on his own with Bellamy and SWP to sit deep and muck in and then spring you on the counter. It worked a treat. SWP even missed a goal from 3 yards lol. We played our best game of the season against you in fairness though. Quite glad we didn't have you at the moment as you're on a bit of a purple patch at the mo. Chelsea game could kind of determine your season. Win that and you're serious contenders. Still worry about you flagging a bit towards the end of the season though with your (talented) kids. Lets's hope not though and hope you do Chelsea.
Also as you say Song is blossoming this year. Thought he was dog shit 12 months ago but seems to be maturing and could be the missing part of your puzzle..... some physical presence to break up play and protect the back 4.
Not the finished article but looking a LOT more promosing
I'm not saying City weren't desrving of the victory but after we equalised we were peppering you and commentators suggested that they wouldn't be surprised if we went on to score 4 ourselves. Then Clichy's brain fell out and he handed you possesion twice with no defenders behind him, we brought it upon ourselves really but take nothing away from City and their tactics.

I've been surprised with the consistency so far. Obviously the type of attacking football being played by Arsenal is expected as that is the Wenger blueprint, but they have started to look like genuine contenders.
However, I still don't feel the squad is deep enough or experienced enough to come out on top in May, and I think United and Chelsea will fight it out to the end for the title. Arsenal will be there about though, they are heading in the right direction as opposed to Liverpool. Obviously the trademark arrogance of the typical Gunner has already started to show up, and the better they play the more bullshit we will hear.
