Thing is (well for me anyway) it's not air max in general... its just the specific AM90, AM1 and the light. But its all about the materials. It has to be mesh toeboxes, and decent suede etc uppers. Decent colour ways etc... This massively narrows the market right down.
All the generic Air Max trainers (bog std JD, footlocker etc...) can fuck right off.
also I had a pair of infrareds and laser blues when they very first came out.. think I was about 10 years old. Fucking loved those with the big chunky keyring attached.. so its kinda become a retro obsession. Bit like vinyl!
Air Max have a massive chav image but collecting specific well made/rare/retro versions is a totally different kettle of kippers.
Agree with everything you said there Badonde, especially regarding materials and colours. Gotta be mesh toe section. All the nicest ones are usually limited edition as well.
90s and 1s are about the most comfortable sneaks there are also.
So, if JD started stocking pairs of Air Max that are identical to a rarer version you love so much, you'll still wear and love yours? Considering it's all about the materials and shit.

I don't give a fuck where they come from, I was just saying that usually the best colours and materials are done in limited runs and charged at a higher price.
Pretty sure JD usually stock the infrared model when it's re released and that's my favourite one of them all.

JD used to bring out brilliant pairs of 90's. About 3-4 years ago they released JD specials of lime, sunburst, laser blue and laser blue (remix) colour ways. All were absolute quality (but suffered from midsole cracking if worn regularly)
They also brought out really decent air max lights too.. same as above
These days however, 99% of the releases are either shit leather uppers.. rubbish colour ways or rock hard synthetic mesh. Cheap and nasty looking. Patent leather on some too
It sounds pedantic but for the insides of the shoe.. quality releases were soft almost fluffy. Cheap nasty ones are now hard nylon.
The recent London release by JD (as i pictured a page back) is like a shoe of old... very good.
These are the most comfortable trainers I have ever worn. I had a blue pair back in the '90s, and now have the above colours. Should've bought 2 or 3 pairs of them

can you still get these or ones like them
I'm on the hunt.. i'll let you know if I come across any. What's your size?
a few years ago only the USA store did decent materials and mesh for the 90.. So I set up a US account, designed them and got a guy in our US office to order then up and ship them to me over here. Made about 5 pairs for £90 each, no postage fees
I did manage to get a Nike studio appointment back then too in oxford st and made a lairy first pair, was a bit of a novelty and £130 ish but the studio experience was good.
I really like the BW's, always have. Shame the only ones I ever see in shops now are all leather. Never see any like those red ones about, if they made more like them they'd sell well imo
Found a place selling some BW's, limited sizes and not the best colours though as the best ones like the black/varsity red-white ones posted are sold out.
