Brad Pitt actually bought the rights to Marching Powder and was going to make a film. The rights have expired now, a real shame - could have been a classic.

Read about that Sapiens a while ago - sounded heavy going, is it any good?

Nope, not at all. It reads like the guy has set out to make it as accessible as possible, plenty of easy metaphors to make complex points.

I was about to say The Power Of The Dog is a great book, but then I realised the one I meant is by Don Winslow and just has the same name lol.

I read Purity. Really REALLY fucking annoying for the first 100 pages or so but it ends up being pretty decent.

Finally got round to this one. Bit of a struggle to get into as a lot of it is in Patois with long rambling sentences, random punctuation and it jumps from first person chapter to first person chapter, ASOIAF style.

Once it gets going though - wow. Proper page turner. Wouldn't be surprised to see it turned into a movie/Netflix series at some point.

I'm halfway through Sapiens as well, it's brilliant. It's very information dense, I feel like I learn completely new things every page or two, so find I get more out of it when I read it in short to medium bursts and think about it, rather than smashing through it like a crime novel.

Not sure if history is your thing but I'm currently reading through some of Marc Morris' bits about the medieval period. Just a mental period in history really, it doesn't seem believable.

Shout out to my man King John. Truly nuts lol.

Cheers all, loads to keep me busy. I've listened to a few such as The China Study, Endure, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running and The Chimp Paradox.

I recently listened to the first part of My Big Toe which is about the simulation theory, gonna take a few more listens I think as I found it very hard to absorb but Tom Campbell is an interesting guy.

Pretty late on both of these but I'm currently duel wielding Sapiens and Marching Powder, depending on mood. Both are VG++

Just finished Marching Powder, so good. Got Sapiens coming from Amazon today

Snakey
Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis

Possibly my favourite of all time. So good. His description of a hangover is absolute perfection:

“He lay sprawled, too wicked to move, spewed up like a broken spider-crab on the tarry shingle of morning. The light did him harm, but not as much as looking at things did; he resolved, having done it once, never to move his eyeballs again. A dusty thudding in his head made the scene before him beat like a pulse. His mouth had been used as a latrine by some small creature of the night, and then as its mausoleum. During the night, too, he’d somehow been on a cross-country run and then been expertly beaten up by secret police. He felt bad."

Just finishing Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential, real good read would say bits of would interest people that enjoy spending time in the kitchen, really get's into the gritty side of his personality toward the end.
