Just finished this. Very funny and one of the most morally deficient lead characters I've ever encountered:

And just started this:

Finished The Dinner. Agree with SD, pretty meh overall.

Just order that Confederacy of dunces. Being a dunce myself I'm looking forward to it.

That's probably the best one out the editions I read. I got up to and including Reapers Gale but left it after that. Erikson has great ideas but too much filler and not the best writer really.

I'm currently reading Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. Only just started it but not sure I'm gonna continue tbh. Not my sort of thing.

Reading a series of books called the "Ex" series by Peter Clines at the moment. It's basically about a zombie apocalypse in a world with super heros. It's actually really good.

I implore you to persevere. I read it recently and it takes a little while to get used to, but it's so so good. One of the best things I've ever read.

Pretty jokes, it’s been ages since I devoured a book.

I had no idea those books were still being written! Loved them as a teenager.

Currently finishing the Reluctant Tommy by Ronald Skirth, quite a grim memoir on WWI

Unfortunately Sue Townsend passed away, I really felt upset knowing there'd be no more Adrian. I think the series is underrated by adults, they are hilarious. The more subtle jokes in there are absolutely killer

Jungian take on masculine archetypes- really enjoying it as I always found Jung an attractive thinker but found him too esoteric for pragmatic application, this puts things into very clear terms that are instantly recognisable.

There's a PDF here if anyone fancies a dip in it but I'd recommend the book if this stuff is up your street

Speaking of signed ones, got the new Irvine Welsh the other week signed. Dead Men's Trousers. It is fucking sick although I am probably biased as I don't think he can do any wrong.  There are some great illustrations in this one as well of DMT trips lol

Just finished reading this:

It's not very long, but the author has jammed packed it with 2000 years of History in about 200 pages. Good for the commute

U-Gods memoir looks good, not at least for his depiction of the rest of the clan

Natives- Race and Class in the Ruins of Empire - Akala

Just starting this one, got early as saw him and David Olusoga speaking on it last week.  Great conversation and Q+A, really looking forward to the book.

Finally got round to starting The Stand on holiday. It is absolutely hench but I'm enjoying it a lot. One for all the Dark Tower nerds.

Accidentally bought the extreme version where he's re-added the 400 pages his editor made him remove.

I think someone mentioned All Involved by Ryan Gattis before? I started it the other day and it’s really good. All about Latin gang wars during the ‘92 LA riots.

Straight-up OGs on that 187 shit, etc

When I say no i feel guilty - Manuel J. Smith

It's an assertiveness training book. I don't consider myself a pushover at all but i want to get better at setting my professional (and sometimes personal) boundaries.

Has some interesting parts about techniques in argument to stop you being manipulated etc. There are some very manipulative snakes where i work so this feels necessary!

Read about that Sapiens a while ago - sounded heavy going, is it any good?
