It's not really new is it? They've just redone the nav and banner area? Looks pretty much the same to me.

Mrs G went out a couple of weeks ago and bought a bird feeder in her bid to make the garden a bit nicer and attract some birds. I've been taking this piss out of her because so far the only birds that have shown interest were a couple of pigeons and a seagull.
She's just messaged me to say there's now a rat out there climbing up the pole and eating the bird food

Classic. Squirrels usually eat everything in the birdfeeders. A rat is just an insult.

You need to get one that spins when something heavy lands on it. That'll keep the pigeons, squirrels and rats off it.

Will look in to this.
I've told her we should just get a cat. (She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.. etc)

^ Get a few different types of birdfeed. Mealworm is a good one. Then have fat balls in another container and then your normal seeds somewhere else.

The better variety on offer, the more birds you'll get.

Also birds tend to come to feeders more when it's cold as there's less food on trees etc. If you had the feeders up since winter, you'd probably be getting way more now.

I don't particularly mind rats - so long as they stay in the garden and I don't find one in my bed. Mrs is freaking out a bit though and already browsing the RightMove website

On another wildlife related note; At the in-laws I've just fed the cats outside on the table and watched as 2 magpies have swooped down, stuffed chunks of food in their beaks, fucked off somewhere then come back and done it again. Zero fucks given. Cats don't know what to do

My birdfeeder went ignored for months until one massive fat wood pigeon noticed it, and now he visits a few times a day - unless the dog spots him.

I just want crows in my garden tbh, they are fucking sick.

It also helps to have the feeders a metre or so away from a tree or bush so they can hop over and know there is a quick escape route. But then you're asking for squirrel trouble again.

If the food has been there for a year you need to replace it - that might help.

Depends where you live I suppose, but I've got feeders on our shitty balcony in Camberwell and we still get tits, robins and the occasional goldfinch.

It is, there's another video on there on how it works etc.  It's incredible.

I'm not quite sure how you'd ever come up with the idea to make such a thing, or why you'd want to, but fair play, he's built quite the machine
