This couldn't have possibly been any easier for Federer. It's a wonderful sight seeing him back to his best at 35.

Agreed. His level of tennis today was unbelievable. I adore him.

He was so good today and has improved his game so much I wonder if 2017 Fed might actually beat 2007 Fed. It does feel like the game has gone up a notch since then.

Yeah for a few years everyone around him raised their levels while he stagnated or possibly took his foot off the gas and became a bit worse, he's a more complete player now. Could he actually play until he's 40? Doesn't seem that far fetched as things stand.

Federer is a smug prick.
I hope he gets gubbed next round.

I know he's 'the player'
Still a smug look about him though.

Konta. Fit, can play, articulate.
The British dream.

Go on girl. Williams has had her time.
Now it's yours.

no, everything about him is smug.
Actually put me off Nike a wee bit.

Remember Sampras? Best player of his era.
No smugness there. Just good player.
Something about Federer rubs me up the wrong way.

Is it the fact that he's a handsome millionaire?

Ha, no im talking in a sporting sense.
The fact that he is rich and handsome has no bearing on my assessment.

He's smug, brilliant and getting beat in the semis.

2008, home from work and hand down my joggers.

Managed to reach Wimbledon during my 3 weeks back in the UK. Ferrer vs Gasquet ( Court 12 ) and Ward Vs Baghdatis ( Court 18). Not a bad day out for a ground pass.

Unlucky Konta. Next year girl.
Thing with one v one sport. Sometimes it ain't your day.

It's good that we have a couple of really good players in the game now.

Yeah, a bit of an anti-climax.

I think games like that can always be a bit overwhelming if it's your first attempt. I remember Murray's first few finals and semi-finals. He would miss one or two break points on his way to losing a tight opening set, for example.

Konta had her two break points near the end of that first set and you knew if she didn't take them, she'd struggle to serve to save the first set immediately after. It's all big game experience I guess ... I reckon she'll win a major before too long.

..... Fed and Venus winning Wimbledon 2017 would be a of a timewarp result. Really want it to happen, mind.

It says a lot that Federer won in straight sets in the Wimbledon semi-final and final at 35 and nobody bats an eyelid in here.

What a man

He's a boss, his longevity is the thing that will set him apart from Nadal & Djokovic, who arguably have higher peaks to their level of play. No way will those guys be winning slams at 35 with the amount they rely on pushing their bodies to breaking point. That effortless style of play has proved functional as well as awesome to behold.

He's well placed for the US as well after taking the clay season off and knocking over Wimbledon without losing a set.

i read that in total he was on-court just over 11 and a half hours for his seven matches... the shortest time of any champion i think? when you consider nadal v muller alone was almost five hours, it's an incredible achievement

fed is definitely playing it smart these days. takes six months off, skips the clay season, but just dominates everything that he actually plays in. i love him quite a lot tbh

If there was any doubt about his status as the best there is, best there was and best there ever will be ... there's certainly isn't any now.

Most majors, most Wimbledons. 2 majors in one year at 35 years old. All while playing the most aesthetically pleasing style of tennis of all time.

What a pleasure to have watched his career from start to finish.

What did you expect from both? For the first time in a while my interest in a Major was not there - has nothing to do with an injured Murray just didnt expect much. Also this final was always going to go one way

I think 10 of the top 20 players weren't playing or something like that. Nadal looks unstoppable at the moment.
