Djokovic will batter Murray, and whoever he meets in the final. Guy is a total machine. Still can't bring myself to root for him though, just something about his on court demeanour irritates me.

Yeah he pisses me off when he's playing. I feel like he has a few dodgy tricks to get the upper hand which grate on me, like feigning injury (Murray obviously guilty of this too).

I think he's a quality sportsman though - always says the right stuff after the match and is a good loser. I do like how he applauds good shots as well.

He is a good dude, but he just comes across as arrogant on the court. Often looks like he can't believe he lost the point when he gets outplayed etc. He probably means well with it but it's just how it comes over.

He's a finely tuned weapon these days though, easily the best when on form. Looks like Rafa's body has finally betrayed him too, which was inevitable given the way he plays.

novak has got murray's number...it'll be pretty straightforward imo

whenever murray gets some momentum or a decent lead, novak just slows the game down, gets in murray's head and then steps it up a notch to run three, four, five games in a row and take the match away from him

he is an absolute master...physically and mentally...but it makes him quite robotic i think. hard to really ever root for the guy. you can't not respect him though.

Re: RE: Tennis 2015/06/05 12:36:50 (permalink)
Yeah I think it'll be the same story with Murray today. He'll get a set, probably the first, but Djokovic will win as he's so much better mentally. So often Murray will squander a break point, or fail to serve out a set and then collapse in his matches against Djokovic.

Djokovic does always have one or two wobbles in his matches and if Murray is at his best he can do it. Nadal was able to come back from 4-0 down to level the first set in their last match, for example. The problem is that Murray also has these wobbles and Djokobic is much better at taking advantage of them.

I am big fan of Novak as a man and as a player but I can see why he's not always the crowd favourite. Sometimes he is too good for his own good, it reminds me a bit of when people called Spain boring when the opposition couldn't get the ball of them.

I think all of the top players are good guys, I imagine they would all be happy to talk to you and polite if you met them in public.

Same shit already from Djokovic. Pretending he's dizzy and spending an age between points. I guarantee he'll still play his best tennis.. it's so obviously a tactic to put Murray off. It's annoying because apart from these bullshit mind games he seems like a great sportsman. No need.

murray falls for it every single time though, so i'm not surprised he does it

murray's head is back where it was before lendl imo...doesn't take much for him to lose his concentration and basically beat himself

Can only see this going one way atm, hopefully Murray fights back a bit to make it more of a match.

What a comeback from 3 break points down.

Typical djokovic going for a break after losing the 3rd. I bet he was smacking the shit out of himself and shouting at the mirror in the dressing room.

Yes Murray. Nerves of steel to hold serve at 4-5 after being on court for such a short time.

Yup he's unbeatable when he plays like this. Ah well, at least Murray hasn't collapsed.

30 years from now it will come to light that Djokovic was some kind of prototype beta cyborg, innocuously placed on the tennis court rather than the battlefield, for the sole purpose of militantly raping any pitiful human who opposed him.

i hope history remembers just how good Murray actually is, despite his Grand Slam return. you have to realise that he's up against three of the greatest players ever, and two grand slams (assuming he doesn't win another) and an olympic gold isn't a bad return. he's also been in six (?) other major finals and innumerable semi-finals. pretty impressive.

thinking of guys in recent years who have won more than one grand slam...Murray is streets ahead of guys like safin, hewitt, kuerten, kafelnikov, etc

Yeah he is playing so well, Nadal has had a tough few last runs at Wimbledon. Can't really see Nadal pulling this back but hope he does.

Yeah some of his shots were insane.

Feel for Nadal. Something has happened to him mentally after all these injuries. One of my favourite players and I'll always remember his battles with Federer when it was just them two at the top.

Hope he at least wins one more slam

yeah, nadal's knees and back are totally fucked. i doubt he'll be able to win another grand slam again unfortunately. one of my fav ever players too, bit of a shame seeing him like this now

MTTBM how casual tennis fans have been going nuts for this guy brown...the tweets being drawn in by the bbc yesterday during the game were unbearable

he's been on the tour for well over a decade and has always been pretty shit. he just had the game of his life yesterday, it's that simple. he'll probably lose in the next round.

thats what injuries do to you. his body isnt capable of dealing with what he used to demand of it which is killing his confidence. no doubt he can still see things, but cant make them happen.
