yeah, the CG is nuts. i'm sure it'll be decent... the jungle book was overall pretty good i thought

i draw the line at the remake of aladdin though. one of the worst ideas in history.

They really are churning them out quickly. Why is Alladdin a bad idea? Dumbo seems like the worst idea to me, giving it realistic graphics will just make the whole thing utterly depressing, if it wasn't depressing
enough already

well, replacing robin williams with will smith for a start...

but yes, dumbo's a terrible idea too. had no idea they were doing that one as well.

it just strips so much of the magic away from all these films imo

Dumbo trailer was out last week, seems strange announcing 3 of them within a few weeks. Will Smith is in it as well.

I've never played a Pokemon game but I'll probably watch Detective Pikachu, it's so bizarre it could just work

I just read about this. WTF is this shit? Pikachu is not a fucking wise cracking detective.

Is every film just Deadpool now then?

The Other Woman

Torrid, dismal and only mildly more enjoyable than being diagnosed with a terminal illness. Kate Upton's tits tho.

Outlaw King on Netflix - the shittest film I've ever seen

The main actor has a wider neck than the neck meme guy, looks like an actual human ewok and Ive done shits with far more personality. His Mrs has a fantastic rack though I will give her that much.

I'm not really arsed about these Disney films, not being a child, a parent or a woman that needs to grow up.

Init. I went to see that Jungle Book one with mates and thought it was garbage and totally shat all over the laid back 60s vibe of the original Disney version while somehow trying to pay homage to it relentlessly. Also celebrities that can't voice act doing voice acting is infuriating.

I just wish they'd come up with some new ideas. I like the idea of these animated and live action Disney films, but I wish they'd do new stories rather than remakes of the classics.

As for Dumbo, the earliest full-length Disney films are sacred and should be left totally untouched. If they bastardise Pinocchio it'll be the last straw.

Lol you what? Sure that wasn't a Daily Mash article? Did you even see them eat animals in the original?

Jungle Book was decent if forgettable, I'll watch all these remakes but Dumbo looks like it will be quite depressing

Guillermo Del Toro is doing a stop motion animation version of Pinocchio, I imagine that will work a lot better than the live action version that will probably just look really jarring.

yeah it sounds interesting. he's insisting it's very political.
The film will be set in Italy during the 1930s, a particularly fraught historical moment and a time when fascism was on the rise and Benito Mussolini was consolidating control of the country.

jim henson's company on the puppets too. sick.

K that sounds acceptable tbh.

Pinocchio really is an absolute masterpiece though. It's pure darkness from start to finish.

Hmm, these movies need comedy to not seem utterly ridiculous. Thor Ragnarok was so good

Theres a few good comedic moments, mostly revolving around Hulks performance anxiety.

Ragnarok is my favourite of them all I think.

agreed. ragnarok was excellent.

the last avengers was decent i thought, but yeah, a bit serious. thanos is basically the main character which makes it feel quite different. keen to see how they wrap it up in this one.

Mowgli movie on Netflix

Thought this was miles better than the new Jungle Book. The CGI isn't as good as in the Disney one, but everything else is better - particularly the voice acting. I always thought Cumberbatch was the logical choice to voice Shere Khan and he does it justice as expected. The tone is dark... some quite shocking moments that would scare/disturb the shit out of a kid.
No songs either. Well worth a watch.

hold the dark on netflix

v good i thought. interesting themes, plus great performances and photography. jeffrey wright is brilliant in everything

bit reminiscent of Wind River actually

Jeremy Saulnier is a great filmmaker...  his last two - Blue Ruin and Green Room - are among my favourites of the last five years or so. He’s also directed some of the forthcoming third series of True Detective...

I really didn't like this. It started well and kept alluding to interesting themes, but never followed through on most of them. Cinematography was good and performances were decent but too much just didn't make sense or wasn't properly fleshed out. Some stupid action scenes as well.

It did have a Wind River vibe, but not in the same league imo

fair enough. i think it's a fairly love or hate film. i liked its ambiguity tbh. but yes agreed, nowhere near Wind River
