Maybe I'm becoming a raging hom these days but I actually really enjoyed Downsizing, maybe it was coupled with end of holiday feels but the Vietnamese chick had me feelsing all over the feel, anyway I actually enjoyed it.

Need to watch sicario 2 now to balance shit out

Just watched Wind River after this thread reminded me it was on the list.

Really good. Properly grim living up there at times. Bit hard to hear what Jeremy Renner was actually saying some of the time tho tbh.

Gf is away this week so will rewatch Sicario one evening.

Mission Impossible 6

Not much of a plot, but the action sequences are fucking incredible and there’s a relentless amount of them. Has definitely set a new benchmark vs bond and bourne films for chases, set pieces, and stunts in general. Tom Cruise is actually nuts. Well worth seeing in the cinema if you can, really enjoyed it.

Oh and the score is sick too, lots of big dirty brass. Love it.

Fired up Netflix over the weekend with the intention of watching Wind River and somehow ended up watching Extinction instead. Fucking shit, don't bother.

Wind River was good.

Plausible story line, beautiful backdrops and some strong acting.

8/10

Miss Sloane, also on Netflix. Pretty damn good actually. Jessica Chastain is great in it. Decent plot, well acted 7/10.

I’m increasingly turning away from any film not grounded in plausible reality, aside from Star Wars and fast and furious 😀

Wall-E, Primer, Gravity, Midnight Special and Annihilation deserve to be in there though imo

Wall-E definitely. One of my all time favourites, that. I like that Moon is in the list, I'd forgotten about that film - proper good.

Annihilation deserves to be in the bin though.

It is a good list, except Fury Road and The Fountain aren't Sci fi films.

Ex Machina would be fighting it out with Blade Runner for number one for me.

I highly recommend these ...all decent

A Quiet Place - Surival film - if they hear you, they will kill you
Mudbound - Great film - some KKK action which SW14
Loveless - Russian - bleak with feels a plenty (if you are a parent you should def watch it)
In the Fade - Intense German film with some Nazi / Golden Dawn elements - another one for SW14
The Beguiled - Directed by the daughter of Francis Coppola and she won the best director award at Cannes

I'd also add Novitiate (7/10 ) to the mix. Interesting film about nuns and Vatican II.   Subject won't be to everyones taste

Some good flicks on there. Fury Road though? Come off it.

Edge of tomorrow is underrated. Seen it a few times now, really enjoyable film with a unique premise

I didn't really think of Fury Road as sci fi, if I did it would be number 2 behind Blade Runner 2049. I can't really think of any sci fi elements in Fury Road? Might try to do my list when I can be arsed, Blade Runner is so far ahead of everything else though, I love it so much.

District 9, Wall-E and Rogue One would be up there.

Edge of Tomorrow is the best Tom Cruise film I've seen, I used to avoid his films but I'm more open to seeing them since that.

Just watched Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon for the first time.

What a film.  The fight sequences are incredible, to think it's nearly all done with wires too is nuts.

Spy Game on Netflix. Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. Directed by Tony Scott.

Completely missed this when it came out. Really good espionage/CIA thriller with obviously two top actors (who seem to look like each other). Enjoyed this. 4/5 tacos
Fiend.

Fucking loved this. The trailer looked a bit too good to be true, like surely the film would just be a mess despite how seemingly cool the trailer looked. But then I watched it and it was such good entertainment, I actually went back and watched it again in 3D on a bigger screen the same week. Should have been blockbuster of the year.

...is this what you want???

List is "okay". From the honourable mentions: WALL-E, Super 8, Source Code, Chronicle, Gravity, Interstellar, and The Martian definitely should have been on. Source Code and Interstellar especially. Also Passengers too, stylish and nicely done.

The Package on Netflix. Obviously it's fucking rubbish, but really who can deny the chuckles in a film about a kid cutting his own dick off with a penknife?

Can't believe I've never seen it before.  Watched it in 4k and it's immense.  I just want to go back and watch all the fight scenes again immediately.

Even just the sounds of the swords and daggers etc clashing is amazing.

Any other films similar to this?  Not just straight up martial arts films but choreographed like this?

Nope neither.  I'm pretty naive to most Asian foreign films tbh.  Not even seen House of Flying Daggers.

Hero looks good, same girl as CTHD right?

Sick, safe, I'll check them out.

Ang Lee knows how to make a beautiful film btw, have you seen Life of Pi in 4k?!  Possibly the best looking film I've ever seen!

Not seen it in 4k yet but I've been meaning to get it, got the 3d blu ray and it's one of the best 3D movies I've seen.

I've got so many 3d blu rays now that I'm buying ones I'll never watch cos I might as well complete the full collection lol. Then I'll start working on the 4K collection.
