Guardian list of scariest horror films ever

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2018/jun/07/peter-bradshaw-scariest-films-ever-hereditary

hmmm

yeah, i'm not sure i'd call that many of those 'scary,' but most of them are outstanding movies

personally i think horror is the most subjective genre there is though, so you're never going to get a list the majority can agree on

not sure i could even really say what i find genuinely scary... maybe Alien? not many others though tbh

Alien should be on the list. The first Alien is very much a horror film
Id personally also put Hellraiser 1 & 2 on there. Those films terrified me as a kid and still creep me out a bit now.

Anyone seen this? Antiviral, directed by David Cronenberg’s son https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2099556/

It’s not perfect but it is interesting. Definitely feels like something his dad could’ve made at the start of his career.

Shame he doesn’t seem to have made anything else since though

Really enjoyed Cargo on Netflix. Was expecting a standard zombie flick but it was so much more than that. Reminiscent of The Road imo. Hit me in the feels a bit if I'm honest but tbf I have turned into a bit of a bitch since having kids.

we went to see that at some tiny indie cinema when it came out.

smoked a massive spliff before we went in.

the fire extinguisher and rape scenes were a lot.

Thought there was no way it could live up to the original, all i've heard about the sequel so far is that it's bland visually without Roger Deakins

There was loads of reality TV, although the Reality Gameshow hadn't been spawned yet.

I'm not convinced the Trueman Show was anything other than a standard conceit that most children have imagined at some point.

And- Jim fucking Carrey!

Sure there was reality TV just not quite the 24 hour surveilance gameshow type stuff of Big Brother , Im A Celebrity as you say.

I never liked Jim Carey much but if remember rightly he wasn't as irritating as normal in that film.

Full trailer for The Predator - fair warning, it's very heavy on the spoilers

I'm getting an air of Alien vs Predator quality from this, will go in with low expectations.

Also really need to stop myself from watching trailers, ridiculous how much of a movie they give away these days. I can never help myself though

this new nic cage film Mandy looks utterly insane. could be brilliant... could be unwatchably bad. it's certainly unique

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI054ow6KJk

Pacific Northwest. 1983 AD. Outsiders Red Miller and Mandy Bloom lead a loving and peaceful existence. When their pine-scented haven is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey filled with bloody vengeance and laced with fire.
