The Tomb Raider poster is so shit

how could they mess up something so simple. The film looks pretty shit tbh, just a rehash of the game reboot, why not just play the game if it's the same story

So last night my Missus kept banging on and saying I had to "tell her something romantic"

I was like "ok, but I need some music to set the tone" So I put on that tune ^^ looked into her eyes and said if she ever tried to leave me, I would hunt her down like the Terminator and "I won't be bargained with, won't be reasoned with and absolutely would.. NOT... STOP"

Fucking lol. There will never, ever be a more militant soundtrack.

A mate of mine got me the score on vinyl for my birthday this year. He's a good egg.

It's also a mttpm that Brad Fiedel is the name of the composer. I like to think that Brad Friedel might have been one of the prototype terminators that Kyle Reece mentions that had rubbery skin and were easy to differentiate from humans.

Also +1 on Terminator being superior to T2. I used to think it was a close contest, but it really isn't.

Salvation was better than I expected given how gimped 3 was, Genisys was just fucking gay.

Apparently there's a decent version of Baby Driver knocking about, can anyone confirm?

This looks great, the trailer reminds me a little of A Field in England.

Just saw the trailer and it looks awful. Why the hell would Alicia vikander sign up for this shite? I thought she could do no wrong after Ex Machina.

New Alex Garland film looks v interesting tho.

After watching this i'm extremely confident this new Terminator trilogy will live up to the first 2 movies.

It feels like we are starting to get more respect for the classic movies in recent times, we've had 2 Star Wars movies that felt like the original movies, we're getting a Blade Runner that has defied the odds to live up to the original and now we are getting more Terminator movies from James Cameron. It's a good time for us 80s kids. Next up Predator 4...

Watched a couple of goodies recently:

The Lobster - seriously weird but very compelling. Best thing Colin Farrell has done for years 4/5

The Dark Horse - another amazing film from NZ. Think Dangerous Minds but with chess 5/5

In other news, I'm seriously hyped for this... Alex garland's next film, Annihilation

Watched the theatrical release of Bladrunner at the weekend as I couldn't find my Final Cut disc. Only my second viewing and I much much preferred it second time round, even the boring bits. It absolutely flew by, felt way shorter than 2 hours.

The narration isn't actually as bad as i thought, it's only really the bit where it cuts in abruptly after the 'tears in rain' speech that is truly awful.

Rutger Hauer . I want to watch the Final Cut again now.

Booked up Bladerunner 2 at the iMax as well.

cafe society 6/10

i enjoyed it, easy & relaxing sunday afternoon viewing though couldnt really see the point  of it tbh, was all a big load of nothingness.

do have a special kind of hatred for jesse eisenberg though, how he has managed to make a career as an actor is beyond me. wooden, unconvincing, monotone, emotionless. extremely punchable face also. top cunt

Re-watched 'Arachnophobia' at the weekend for the first time since it was probably released on VHS. Holds up pretty well tbh, minimal anamatronic use mixed with real spiders have kept it looking believable after all these years.
Hats off to the cast for doing some of that stuff because, FUCK. THAT.

SIGS, EVERYTHING SIGS.

A Bronx Tale

Pretty good but not one of the true classics. Falls down in unavoidable comparisons with other De Niro films from that era and other Mob masterpieces.

Chappie

alright actually. was expecting a complete disaster after the reviews but it's pretty entertaining. a bit silly in places but fairly solid stuff. always gonna be tough following up District 9 but i've thought Elysium and Chappie have both had their moments... huge mistake casting those two idiots from die antwoord (or whatever they're called) though

Chappie and Elysium are both steaming turds imo.

Elysium is all over the place and Chappie s only slightly less annoying than Jar Jar Binx.
Some really cool shots in both films though..

I really liked Her.

If you enjoy the commentary on relationships between humans and machines / AI (Bladerunner, Ex Machina) then you'll probably see the value in Her.

Give it a go. If nothing else, Scarlett JH sounds pretty hot in it lol.
