I really like this one - reminds me of the 'fast movement' photos you see in F1

Thanks man, speed blurs and surfing can be tough to make work, but yeah thats one of my favs for sure.

I have tried it to emulate it with birds in flight, and it is a bugger to get right.

You shooting with a filter at that time of day?

I hate all my filters and just end up waiting for it to get dark enough for long exposures

I have a ten stop filter which I have only ever used it about 3 times. If the conditions aren't perfect for it, it's pointless

No filter (use a 500mm lens for surf shots so i don't actually own a filter), normally I'm ok as only looking for 1/10 shutter and it was pushing towards last light.

If its sunny I'm still normally ok as well though, push the aperture to 29+ and ISO to L1.0 or similar and you still get that blur.

Took my lad to a beach on the south coast today and the tide was so far out it was surreal.

Dungeness.

I live fairly close but have never been before. It was amazing. It took a good 10 minute walk just to get near the sea.

Just thought I'd put this here...

If anyone is considering getting a Gorillapod then the 5K model is on sale at Jessops for £109.

https://www.jessops.com/p/joby/gorillapod-5k-flexible-mini-tripod-with-ball-head-kit-136036

Normally the 5K tripod is £103 and the ball-head which is ARCA compatible is £78. You're effectively getting the ball-head for free which is an amazing offer.

Went to this at the Barbican on Sunday. Highly recommended
https://www.barbican.org.uk/whats-on/2018/event/another-kind-of-life-photography-on-the-margins

Touching on themes of countercultures, subcultures and minorities of all kinds, the show features the work of 20 photographers from the 1950s to the present day.

Yeah those 2 stand out for me as well. Since the Gursky exhibition I'm kind of obsessed with really full frames. Like those ones.

Excellent pics Daz. Fuji cameras seem to take fantastic photos, I borrowed a friends for a while and loved it.

I have been contemplating going for an RX1Rii when the iii comes out and it’s a bit cheaper. I might look at the Fuji instead as it’s half the price.

Nice Daz. I need something like that Fuji for holidays. Were they with the standard lens?

Thanks guys, really appreciate the comments. I'm still getting used to it but it's such an intuitive camera I feel like I'm learning quite quickly. I need to shoot in RAW I guess because I'm doing a little post-processing in Lightroom on JPG at the moment and that probably isn't helping with clarity?

All the photos were shot with the standard X100F fixed lens - I don't own either of the conversion lenses at the moment (although I'm very tempted by the WCL-X100 II).

If you shoot RAW you'll be doing a lot more processing, but the files are huge so you've got more leeway with editing brightness etc

Yeah, I've noticed that I'm losing some sharpness around things like leaves when brightening up images. The FINE JPGS are approx. 11mb as opposed to about 50mb with RAW. I love Fuji's film simulation effect on the JPGS but obviously want to brighten, etc. in post without losing too much quality.

Nice Daz. Fujifilm colours are some of the best. I'm actually selling my x100T now as I find myself always using my Canon again. I'm either going to grab a x100F or look into other street cameras in a few months time.

Only one piece of advice. Work the scene more. That Sega sign would look great with an interesting person standing underneath or with someone wearing red and blue.

I love that advice and actually wanted to spend more time doing that but unfortunately had my somewhat impatient wife with me most of the time. I watched a great youtube video:

There was this one bit where he waited like 10 minutes for a pigeon to fly past again and he was like 'without the bird it's just geometry' and that really resonated.

when I head out on my own I'm definitely going to find the 'scene' and then wait it out for the right subject to come along. it seems so worthwhile.

btw if you're buying gear I'd recommend getting it here:
http://www.cotswoldcameras.co.uk/

They're 'grey imports' so not sure if strictly legal and the site looks a bit sketchy but they're legit. I've bought a few bits from them including a Canon body.

Got the 70-200mm lens from them and it was £300 cheaper than Amazon

Hmmm, that is cheap. I'll probably get wacked with a load of tax if I order from there though.

A few more from recently
