What even is jump up anymore? Is it that screechy singalong DJ Pleasure dirge? Is it Hazard/G dub type wobble?

You kind of know it when you hear it but it’s hard to define exactly what it is in the way you could in the Full Cycle, Twisted Individual etc era.

It's the stuff you lot would call screechy yeah, it's basically an entire new genre but it gets hated on for being completely different to drum and bass people grew up on. I never call it drum and bass tbh. I will always prefer the older stuff but there's only so often you can listen to old music before it become stale. Bassline is my main jam and jump up shares a lot of similarities. Deeprot on YouTube posts a nice mixture of new bassline and jump up tunes most days.

must would say its the screechy cheesy stuff. its kind of annoying its taken the name its not what I think of when I think of jump up. not proper jump up the term was coined for.

This fonejacker jump up remix honestly appeals to me more than anything so-called jump up producers shit out these days.  Dnb in general is an absolute fucking mess.

Some of Kanine's stuff is good.

The Shadows is sick and I just head this which I quite like (Though admittedly it is quite similar to The Shadows).

It was called jungle in those days, not drum and bass. That came later

Really enjoy King of the Rollers. To me that’s perfect jump up.

So what genre is Serum et al. I like what these producers are making. It’s definitely a fresh sound in D&B and pretty sick. I thought this was the ‘new’ jump up?

That’s recent good jump up (imo). I like that sound.

If I see “nu” I associate it with honky tonks and screeches
