even long than that, ive got tracks from Zen on 5hq that say 97 on them

For me its all about the producers that make jump up thats not got that really cheesy edge to it if that makes sense...
Theres loads of new guys making jump up and its like an 'up n coming' jump up scene like Complex, PA, Rowney, Rusty, Wood packer, soul pride, Callide etc its all just really kinda chessy with no actual musical elements or flavour in there at all. Just silly bass and intros that make you wanna cut ya wrist imo

Original sin, Hazard, Heist, taxman these guys are doing it right for me

 I said newer, not new.

He hasn't been around as long as Die, Roni Size, Krust etc etc etc

Not like he was well known around 97 / 99

Heist for me without a doubt!! The new "straight out the lab" cd he has just release is stinkin!!! Heist clearly setting himself in stone as a hard working different sounding producer. His sound is big like killamanjiro!!!

funny nobody mentioned d.kay yet - of course not a jump up producer in a classic sense but he still made some of the best tunes of this genre imo (lfo, lion dub, dubplate, galaxy etc)

used to be dj trend -2 degrees and loads of sick stuff on live recordings in 96/97
also the prisoners of technology- trick of technology/battlemaster/feel.

nowadays it takes a lot for me to like a (wobble)jump up tune but id say xample and heist are  the best out the list

Phibes has been doing it recently tbf. Whatever happened to Mr Wharfedale titandnb? Was making some pretty good tunes himself if I remember rightly.

zen seems to have vanished, but most on that original list are still putting out tunes.

liking this recent one from heist.

Benny L, Kings of the Rollers. All Smashing it at the moment. From back in the day Devize was really good as a lesser listened to option.

Nice, funky jump up roller as it should be. No screech, no sing-along students and no 15 mcs.

...is this what you want???

Agreed. Feeling Benny L. Would you definitely say it’s jump up though?

I get you. It's hard to categorise. It definitely has a jump up vibe to it but not along the lines of hazard etc and obviously not someone like Guv. Loads of geeks cried when metalheadz got hold of some of his stuff as they felt it was too dancefloor for the label which says a lot.

Either way I love the whole direction those guys are taking things right now. So many weighty tunes coming out.

Yeah, the fact he’s on Headz is one of the reasons I’ve got a question mark as to whether he’s jump up.

wouldn't call those jump up, it's not typical modern jump up anyway
