Emu samplers are still going in a few peoples studios - its a shame Emu stopped supporting them years ago. If only they could connect to PC/Mac via USB/Firewire i'm sure many people would still be using them. It's quite long with working with HW samplers these day compared to soft samplers… but it has to be said the Emu samplers do sound absolutely amazing! The 5000/6000 Classic in particular has a very earlier 90's muted tops sound - extremely rough and dirty! The later Ultra line sounded a little more cleaner with more tops but still had that gritty character. Having owned both there isn't that much difference between them... the Ultra series is quicker and has a few extra processing tools. If anyone does decide to get one - forget using SCSI to transfer samples... use the Sampler inputs! Half of the magic is passing audio through these A/D converters to get that legendary Emu sound
