Do you all get your motors on a PCP ting? Mine is just about ending on my Golf so got the ball ache of sorting another car, but I'm dim with this stuff and never sure if I'm getting swindled or not but it seems like the only way of affording anything that's not a shitter.

Looking at Tiguans, Pugeot 3008 or Kia Sportage at the moment but open to suggestions. Yes I'm middle aged, no I don't need a willy extension that will bankrupt me. Ty.

This is me basically. I have just come off a 3 year deal on a R-Line Tiguan, which I generally liked but found the boot a touch too small to fit all of the kids stuff plus shopping etc.

Don't laugh but I opted for a Skoda Superb on another 3 year deal. Much more practical for me in terms of boot space plus it costs me about £100 per month less than than VW. I put down £2.5k and pay just over £300 per month for 15k miles per year. It is pretty much fully loaded for that price - automatic, full leather, keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, heated seats, heated steering wheel, reversing camera. The only things I didn't bother with were the park assist (as I had it on my VW and only used a handful of times, mainly just to see how well it worked) and the higher spec'd stereo.

I am really pleased so far - much prefer it to the VW. I commute into London 2 days per week, parking at the O2 before tubing to Canary Wharf and the adaptive cruise control is a god send. I just set it for 85/90 when I hit the motorway and then it literally drives itself all the way to my turn off for the O2 accelerating and braking with the flow of the traffic, even stop and re-starting when hitting stationary traffic. Also the infotainment screen is huge - much better than the offering in the VW.

Was it really that bad?

R32 would average between 14 and 18mpg round town. Motorway was closer to 30mpg if it was kept under 90, which was extremely rare.

This new one is fucking madness. I opened it a bit on the A50 yesterday and without realising, it was at 120mph

I average 25mpg. Should get better after a few miles on it.

My S3 averages 28mpg after 2 years. You drive like you stole it. You won't get above 25 lol.

I'm taking it easy until I hit the magic 1 thousand miles. Then I'll use the launch control at every traffic light.

I took a work guy out in mine after it was mapped and limiter removed. It touched just over 160 in a few places and when we parked up to refuel it read 11mpg.

General costs, mileage to watch out for (as in major part changes at say 40k etc) and anticipated depreciation over the next 2 years

Budget £1500-2k a year for servicing parts. Some years will be more some will be less, which is about the same as a BMW M6/Porsche 911.
The oldest ones have stopped depreciating at around £30k. Some have started to grow in value. Buy a manual 4.3 with about 30-40k on the clock and keep the miles to around <5000 a year and you’ll probably see an increase in value.
Servicing costs are eyewatering (10 year service); it’s an Aston!, so make sure that’s been done.
Speak to Nicholas Mee, Oselli etc as they’re good specialists.

Nice one on buying a classic also. Everyone should have a classic car. So much more fun and character.
I own 2 one for me and one for the Mrs.

As long as you don't buy a nail, running costs shouldn't be an issue. Just keep on top of it and make sure it goes to a good specialist garage every 12 months min for his health check and service. (catch stuff before it goes wrong).

If it needs a big service like mine did on the 10 year/100k check its been done or you may get stung.
Become a member of a group so you can get parts and knowledge for free/cheap.

Welcome to the classics forum crew :D

Also on every journey give an extra 20 minutes for people to come up to you and want to talk about your car.
Most random of places you will have someone want to talk about how they love these, really wanted one, always been a fan. Give you advice of look after it as they are only going up in value. My best friend, dad, dog used to have one of these. What a car.......

The running costs for those out of warranty make the Aston look cheap.

I’d still rather have a Maserati GranSport, though. Useable seats in the back.

If you can afford to own an Aston you ain’t going to worry about cost.

Don’t you own a Golf Tom?

Bit of a leap...

Spils what do you have?

Anyone going to Anglia Car Auctions next week?

Always fancied one of these. Twelve cylinders for ultimate waft. https://angliacarauctions...018/1997-bmw-e38-750i/

But I’d probably get bored; I prefer something a bit more raw and unhinged (hence the Alfa love).
Drove one of these for a feature last year and loved it. I even like the styling https://angliacarauctions...91-citroen-bx-gti-16v/

Lack the cash but I’ve a week to win the Euromillions.

I do yes and it seems a bit of a leap but its actually only 5-10k more than what my car cost with the extras I put on which is crazy to then own an AM! It wouldn't be my everyday car anyway always fancied a second toy car
