on the other hand, what I really really want is a Toyota Supra 3.0 Twin Turbo Automatic in black. Hoowever, I'm not sure i really want to be driving a car older than my current car. I know it's japanese and thus bulletproof, the poor thing would have been ragged all over the shop. there's newer than my car available, but by the time i get round to affording a new car, it's probably be 12 years old for a 1999 car

dont really matter, if its been properly maintained, it'll be fine.

My e46 330d is staring at retirement at the moment, few scratches one small dent, becoming more expensive to fix each year so looking to get rid and replace with something else.

Want another 4/5 door Saloon/Estate with at least a 2litre engine. Preferably diesel but I wouldn't rule out a petrol. Something that looks nice, at least a little bit sporty. Not more than 50k on the clock or more than 8 years old. Budget is around £10k or less.

Obvious choices are another 3 Series (E90), Merc C220 or an Audi A4 but is there anything else less anyone would recommend in the same sort of bracket?

By chance I spotted a nice A4 S Line in the garage round the corner but it's sold subject to finance. shame as it's a tidy car.

Alfa 159 late model. Properly screwed together, unlike Alfas of old. Go for the 1.8 tbi engine if you can find one.
If you must go diesel, the 2.4 has a proper punch and can be remapped should you wish it.

@Gutless - You haven't specified any sort of budget, so it's nearly impossible to make a suggestion.

@The forum - Apologies I even considered buying a TT. Please direct your well deserved abuse this way.

They're fun to drive, but that's like using the analogy that fat birds are fun to shag. It still doesn't make it right.

A newish Bentley pulled up outside the gym today, was a thing of beauty. Right couple of toffs got out, sweaters draped casually around their shoulders.

I find all Audis cuntwagons personally, nice cars obviously but they're just so wack, especially the ones with the fairy lights. Mercs on the other hand..

Lay off the Volvo abuse!  They made/make some awesome cars.  On many models their build quality and durability is as good as anything out there, they're practical and make a lot of good fast models as well.  An estate that you can fit a wardrobe in and do 150mph in, nice!

What did you get?

I always used to change to a different car each time but i've had my A4 almost 2 years now and will almost certainly get another one next, or possibly an A5.

Brand new A3 2.0L TDI S-Line, fully spec'd up.

I looked at an A5 but stupid kids meant I had to get a 5 door really, and they look shit in 5 doors. If I didn't have the dustbin lids, I would have probably got an A5.

I like to think he makes his decision based on MPG and average service cost.
