Nah Gassiev is serious tbf.  This World Boxing Super Series thing is sick.  I can see Gassiev KO'ing Usyk in the final because Briedis was getting a lot of sucess against him in last week's other semi and he didn't look comfortable with it at all.  Bellew chose to vacate at the right time, imagine him against Gassiev, he'd have got murdered!

Meanwhile Chamberlain vs Okolie was dogshit of the highest order.  Feel sorry for anyone that paid for a ticket to watch them hold each other... Also gotta feel for David Price, Povetkin is going to body him!

Agreed, think Gassiev will beat Usyk although will be close. Abel Sanchez now has two unified fighters under his belt.

Groves/Eubank a little under 2 weeks away

Did u only see the ending? Because the shots dorticos was taking before the ending, were beyond belief, he took this shot about 20 times :

Dorticos hardly threw any body shots & his punching was too predictable but his conditioning must be mental to have taken so many shots like that & kept coming.

The way Gassiev throws his lead left hook, left uppercut is a thing of beauty.

Groves v Eubank predictions?

I’m going Groves stoppage. Think his jab will be a wake up call to Eubank and not sure he has the power.

Fascinating fight though, really looking forward to this.

Leaning more towards groves as it gets closer, mostly because hes a more natural SM - but Eubanks a local lad so hope he gets the win.

I think they are both a bit chinny and definitely have the power to ko each other with a decent shot.

What makes you think Eubank Jnr is chinny? Never seen him close to rocked. I think it will be a Eubank decision.

Groves will get TKO'd late on on the ropes. Eubanks engine and workrate will be too much
Groves is just not the same fighter, and gasses out nearly every fight.

If anything that proves he has a great chin lol. most guys would be on their arse from taking those flush haymakers from spike.

Was rocked by spike as above, and has had some close calls elsewhere.

Its a hard one.

Getting punched and getting rocked are two different things. Shows he has a decent chin taking a flush shot like that.

Grove hits hard. Murray who has been in with both said his right is harder than Golovkin’s (but only his right).

This. He even looked gassed at the end of the Cox fight. Only mistake Eubank can make is leaving it too late like he did with BJS. But even if he is behind on points can see him coming on too strong for Groves.

If Groves doesn't stop him in the first 6/7, he can't win. Never seen him last a full 12 rounds and look decent.

Re: RE: Boxing tonight 2018/02/13 13:31:46 (permalink)
Groves is not that same fighter that fought against Froch & Jack.  Hes lost a fair bit of speed and leaves himself open a lot.  Yes he still carries that one punch power in his right but as others have mentioned Jr has shown against Spike he can sure take a shot and Groves has always been chinny.

Re watch the quarter final against Jamie Cox... Groves was significantly buzzed on at least three occasions and this was by a guy that started out at welterweight!  He did not look comfortable at all with his back against the ropes and that is exactly were Eubank Jr would want him so he could throw all those uppercuts and hooks.

Personally see a Eubank Jr stoppage win within six rounds.

I’ve been more impressed with him recently since he left that bum Paddy whatever his name was. The McGuigan’s seem to be doing good things with him.

It’s a really good fight but my gut feeling is Groves is being underrated here. He’s gone the distance with Badou Jack (look at what he did to Degale in the later rounds), he was a few seconds away from ending Carl Froch and he’s less than a year older than Eubank who has largely been wrapped in cotton wool.

Groves at 6/4 is huge value imo.

Re: RE: Boxing tonight 2018/02/19 13:34:17 (permalink)
Eubank Jr got badly exposed.  The size difference was a factor (Groves rehydrated to around 184 while Eubank would've been around 170) so Groves was physically stronger in the clinches but it was clear to see Jr could not fight coming forward just launching huge haymakers in the hope of a KO.  Theres a clear blueprint for fighters to beat him now; just keep him at distance with jabs, pivot away and time him with shots when he comes lunging in. The ref was an idiot as well.  There were two clear knockdowns that he didn't give, the second one was blatent - Jr came lunging in and got caught with a chopping shot to the temple before touching down?

Jr can still come back but he needs to get shot of his dad and hire a proper trainer who can install some proper boxing fundamentals into his game because he clearly has great athleticism.  He also needs to drop back down to 160 because the likes of Benavidez, Ramirez and even Truax would ice him.
