I was so glad Ward got the decision in the first fight although Kovalev probably won. I hope Ward wipes the floor with him this time, Kovalev is a horrible cunt.

Surprised at that. I reckon that fight would have sold out 40-50,000 in the UK if priced correctly, even with no Brits fighting.

Watched the Paul Smith fight in Germany, they literally watch it in silence until there is a flurry.

We must have some of the best fans in terms of traveling to support our fighters, attendance and atmosphere.

Bullshit early stoppage, Kovalev didn't even touch down.  Ward retains by testicular knock out!

Yeah, poor stoppage. A real shame as the last one was one of the fights of year. Ward looked fucking good in that last round though, real spite behind the shots.

Virgil Hunter said prior to the fight that they had been training for a knock out for only the second time ever and it showed.  Ward's shots looked much more powerful compared to in the first fight.  I think Kovalev has some sort of conditioning problem because he was breathing heavily early again or it may just have been the accumulative effect of the body punches.

If GGG gets past Canelo and moves up to super middle Ward should think about dropping back down for a super fight.  Golovkin is probably the only credible person left for him to face now.

The fight was stopped too early and many shots were below the belt or borderline at best. Saying that, fuck Kovalev. In 10 years time he'll be a penniless alcoholic.

Pacquiao lost last night. Unfair decision (how many has he had now?) but it's pretty sad watching someone like him getting his head snapped back by a clogger.

No knockout in 8 years, a stat that must cast some suspicion over his earlier career.

I take it Golovkin v Canelo is going to be a PPV event?

Can't see either of those two taking a backward step, could be an absolute war. Buzzing for that fight.

It's much needed after that ridiculous affair at the weekend. Guaranteed war. I think it's PPV on Box Nation.

I read about it yesterday to check - it still is a little unclear however the wording states its PPV as you have to pay extra for box nation - I recall the first time I subscribed to Setanta it was due to Hatton fighting and they advertised it as PPV but with basically a months subscription to their other programming. I was right:

Setanta Sports is pleased to announce the exclusive broadcast rights for Ricky 'Hitman' Hatton's IBO World Welterweight Title fight on Saturday, June 23rd, 2007.

Freeview viewers who want to see the fight will pay a fee of £10.99, and if they subscribe before midnight on Friday June 22nd, will receive a full months subscription to the Setanta Sports channel plus an extra month free, which will net them at least the first two of Setanta's exclusively live Premier League games of the 07/08 season.

Those who subscribe on Saturday June 23rd and up until the fight, will get the fight plus a full month of Setanta action for £10.99 on Freeview.

Re: RE: Boxing tonight 2017/08/29 17:21:12 (permalink)
Infact someone asked Boxnation on Twitter earlier and they replied with this:

Hi there. If you're a paying BoxNation subscriber, you will get #CaneloGGG included in your subscription at no extra cost

So I do not think that is clear yet - http://www.boxnation.com/hd/ shows they do one off PPV for £30 or month subscription for £12. Hopefully as BT have Boxnation as part of the Sports package it will be included in that

GGG could win this comfortably & with ease if he stays on the backfoot and uses his jab all night. If he goes at Canelo looking for a stoppage (which I think he will), Canelo's counter punching and solid defence will take him to a points decision. Either way it should be a great fight, I don't see either fighter being stopped in this one.

I've never seen GGG stay on the backfoot. Constantly walks down his opponent cutting off the ring. He does leave himself open, I remember (I think it was Geale) catching him pretty flush and he still managed to deliver a knockout punch even after having his head snapped back. Hoping for something along the lines of the best Pac v Marquez fights.

Re: RE: Boxing tonight 2017/08/29 23:05:16 (permalink)
Canelo is looking hench right know he definitely looks like an authentic Middleweight.  He's a bit shorter than GGG but it looks like he's bulked up and put on a lot of muscle.  If GGG fights like he did against Lemieux leading with jab he could control things and even stop Canelo in the later rounds.  The problem is his head movement is literally non existent and he cant really fight on the inside so he will be getting hit to the body and will be susceptible to hooks and uppercuts.  Golovkin's chin is immense but I've got a feeling at 35 years old it wont be able to stand up to a flush power punch from a now much stronger Canelo.

I hope GGG pulls it off because the way Canelo has conducted himself with all that catchweight shit has been shameful and he deserves a beat down for it.

He looks like he's juicing if you ask me. Frankly if you stuck me in a ring with GGG I'd be stocking up on paper mache hand wraps, EPO, nandrolone, testosterone pellets as well.

His physique looks suspect though, but then I think boxing is saturated in PED's.

Anyone know any more as to whether it's free if you're a BT Sports subscriber?

I thought it was now included as part of the BT Sports package? Admittedly I haven't tried watching anything on it yet, but they sent out an email announcing it a while back...

http://www.boxnation.com/subscribe/bt-sport/

Edit - Actually from the Boxnation homepage it does look like it's a separate PPV
It does say existing BN subscribers will get it free, but I guess as I get it as part of BT Sports I won't be included in that? I'll be up anyway for the Rockhold/Branch fight so will flick over at the time and see if it's on I guess.

Biggest fight for years. Heart says GGG KO, head says Canelo points.
